I thought I'd ask because I'm wondering what I'd be doing during my time off. I took a week off before my wedding from work, but I'm wondering if it's really necessary, or if I should save the days for a future vacation.

Any brides-to-be or past brides who can share their experience in planning and prepping right before the wedding? What are you planning on doing or have done during the couple days before the big day?

Hi date twin :)  I'm planning to take the Thurs and Fri before the wedding off (maybe 1/2 day on Wednesday).  I based that on when family was coming in from out of town and wanting to maximize the time with out of town people.

I plan to have a mani/pedi afternoon on Friday and that's about it!

i wasn't working before the wedding, but i still didn't need to do much wedding stuff right before. i took off of volunteer work, but then i ended up just using that time to relax! i had pretty much everything done weeks before, and only had a few little things to do.

Hi Month Twins, lol - - I am taking Thursday/Friday - Monday off...The majority of our guests, family, wedding party are arriving on those days - - I know my excitement will get the best of me and I'll be checked out if I'm at work!

Today was my last day at work and this week was so hard (wedding is next Saturday). I was not focused AT ALL. It was so hard to work!

I am picking up family from the airport tomorrow and then I have a list of things to do all week next week. It's just little things but it adds up, like calling vendors, paying vendors, picking up my dress, getting my ring cleaned, taking stuff to the venue etc. And we will have family staying with us all next week.

Technically I am sure I could work but I would lack focus and I am already exhausted so I am hoping having next week off will help to keep me more relaxed as we get closer to the day!

I am glad to have the time and I am sure you will too!

I'm thinking of taking the week off. We want to drive down the wednesday before the wedding and I just can't see myself working Monday and Tuesday and stressing the whole time about everything wedding related that I need to pack up and prepare for!

Despite the fact my wedding isn't until 2012, I'm already planning on taking a day off from work, letting my two kids skip school (I'm such a fun mom, lol) and getting everything gathered up and organized the day before the wedding.

that includes packing for the weekend, getting all the decorations gathered up and put in an easy-to-get place, shopping for last-minute items, and pretty much anything else that comes up.

We'll also probably be heading up to the cabins early to setup and decorate prior to our Saturday wedding.  (we're also planning on adding another night to our package for us and his eldest son, if possible)

I'll also probably take the following Monday off.

I'm not sure you'd need a week, but definitely a day or two to get everything organized and ready for the wedding.

eta: ok, those are really good reasons! lol

I plan on taking the Thursday/Friday off before the wedding on Saturday. I will be off the entire week after the wedding and then 2 extra days into the following week due to our honeymoon being a Monday-Monday. So, that's a lot of days I will be using :)

I think this depends on how you think you'll be finishing up projects and stuff. My husband and I were super organized, and had almost everything done a month before the wedding. We had a DW, and shipped out a bunch of supplies for last minute things we couldn't do at home, and we arrived at our wedding venue the Wed before, and we took a full two weeks off. We both wanted a few days off after the honeymoon to regroup.

I would suggest that you only take a couple of days before the wedding off, and then take a couple days after the honeymoon. I think you need it more after the honeymoon than before the wedding! Even with a super relaxing honeymoon, we were POOPED.

My wedding is still 9 months out, but I'll be taking the Friday before off, just to relax (my semester will be ending on the Thursday before my Sunday wedding & I'll be majorly stressed). I planned on doing a lot of DIY stuff, but since I got really good prices on a lot of big projects, I'm not DIY-ing anything (except my iPod playlist, which will be done way ahead of time).

So I'll just have to get a mani/pedi and maybe a massage. Oh, no! I'll have so much to do!  Haha! :)

I'll probably take Tuesday/Wednesday thru Friday off because I'm getting married in another state and want to make sure that I'm not traveling too close. Would just stress me out even more!

My wedding is out of town, so I'm taking a week off.  If the wedding were local, I think I'd be fine with taking Thursday and Friday.

If you are having a lot of out of town guests come in, you might want to take more time off so that you can spend more time with them.

My wedding is Sunday and I took Friday off. Bad idea. There's a proposal I have to take home today, come in tomorrow early and hope that I can get it done. If not, I'll be here on monday. Boo!

Take time off! It's worth it.

Our wedding is out of town and I'll be overseas for six months prior to the wedding!  I plan on taking the week prior to the wedding off to tie any loose ends that I might have missed, meet with vendors one final time, and just enjoy being back in my hometown. :)  I think it helps to take some time off before so you're not completely stressing out, and how much will you be able to focus at work?  And if you have the vacation time available go for it!

I'll be taking at least the Wed/Thurs/Friday before off, possibly the Tuesday, it depends on how much stuff I have left to do.

I'm a lucky bride in that I am a teacher and have the summers off.  I purposefully planned my wedding to be towards the end of July so that I had a good month to relax.....so I would definitely take a few days off before the wedding if you work year round!  You deserve some time to unwind and pamper yourself.

Initially I was planning on a few days off for the wedding (3 days - Thurs, Fri, Monday is a holiday already, and Tues). I'd use the days before for possibly DIY bouquets/bouts and getting a mani/pedi and any last minute projects.  But I may have about a month of vacation to use up by the time our wedding comes around, so I might end up taking more time off just for the heck of it.  I'll decide when we get closer to the date.  I'll be using about 2 weeks for the honeymoon too, but can probably add some days off to that.

My wedding is next Saturday and tomorrow is my last day of work! I am so happy I am taking that much time because I do not want to feel rushed and panic-y. I have some DIY programs and centerpieces to work on and plus hair appts, manicure, pedicure, cleaning my house and pampering myself. Very happy with my decision. I am also taking the week after off because we are going on a week long mini-honeymoon. So 2 weeks total. It's your wedding, it's so worth taking the holidays.

My wedding was on a Friday, but I took Mon-Thurs off prior.  I actually didn't have that much to do, but it was nice not to feel rushed and have time to hang out with family that came into town.

Kind of depends on what we're doing about a honeymoon and how much time i'm taking for that. I don't want to take more than 2 weeks total around the time of the wedding. But, if I have time I'd love to take the wed-fri off before. Definitely the friday before.
