@ItWasntMe: I found the show to be boring.  I was hoping for more wedding related stuff than life stories.

I am so intrigued with their lifestyle.  It’s so old-fashioned/conservative in some ways, but in other ways, it’s extremely liberal.  I love watching and trying to make sense of it all.  Plus, I love looking at all the poofiness.

@Summy00: I wonder that, too!  They said on the last episode that they do odd jobs, but that doesn’t seem like it would pay for those custom gowns and a reception with an open invitation to everyone in all of the traveller communities.

@ItWasntMe: Where at on the TLC website?  I’m always up for some fun reading.

IMO they work really hard and don’t pay “rent” and whatnot. They probably pay less expensive lots fees and utilities so all their money goes to luxuries. I feel kind of bad for them. I mean I know there is a “stigma” in the U.S. about trailer parks but in the U.K. they are downright hated. Their homes are destroyed and they are left homeless.. too sad 🙁 ** disclaimer: there is nothing wrong with living in a mobile home, a home is what you make it. ** I too thought the show was going to be more about weddings, but I have to say their overall lifestyle shocks me. The only thing I find offensive is the hoochie outfits they put the little girls in. It’s just inappopriate to me, they’re babies.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding! This show is so fascinating. They’re so old-fashioned and conservitive in some ways and then there’s this:

@MissMoose091011:

I know I dont understand. The women is to stay at home and cook/clean for the man very 1950s houswife. And then its like little girls dressing like well….like their “selling it” I just is very odd. I find it fascinating, like a car accident I dont want to watch, but I can’t look away. And the living in the trailor too thing is odd.

It’s so crazy the way they can’t date without an adult present, yet the dressmaker on the show described them as “look[ing] like prostitutes”, and they really do.  But I guess it’s a part of their culture.
