I always felt weird talking to it, too, but my husband used to talk to my belly all the time. Of course, Addie used to also kick him in the face when he was talking to my belly, so I’m not sure how much good it did, lol!

My ex and I talked to the baby a ton. We even played her music through special belly headphones. Is she a genuis who’s into classical music? No.

BUT when she was born and screaming she stopped when she heard her dad’s voice. Coincidence? Maybe.

Ok, I don’t get this. Do my husband and I talk *TO* the baby? No. But we talk. Out loud. Pretty regularly. So it’s not like we’re making a particular effort to be quiet while he’s around.

Also, the minute I get home from work every day I break into baby talk voice and start saying things like “Who’s my good boy?!?” to the dog, so maybe the baby thinks that’s directed at him.

DH cannot WAIT until the 16 week point when the baby can hear outside noises. I swear, our lives are going to be narrated from that point until the kid pops out. Not looking forward to it.

I’m 17 weeks today & I do sometimes. It really just depends, but I do feel ridiculous sometimes. haha! I’ve been singing “You are my sunshine” to the baby at night & I’m starting to read to it too. I also have this:

Mr. Menard gave it to me as a birthday present and I love it! I’ve only used it a few times so far but I plan on using it much more now that the baby is able to hear me and will soon be able to hear others.

We don’t really talk to the bump…BUT I did notice he started kicking all crazy the other day when my husband came home and was talking to me. I hope baby likes rock music.

My husband talks to her once in awhile.  I don’t really, I feel like she hears my voice enough and I don’t really want to try to bend over and try to directly talk to my belly.  I’ve been encouraging my husband to talk to her since one of his friends said he talked to his wife’s belly every night and when his son was born he would turn his head every time the dad talked and stop crying to figure out where the sound was coming from.

I guess I’m the lone weirdo.LOL I’ve been talking to my baby for a week now. (16wks)  If I’m in the kitchen and something is good it’s “Yummy! Me and Baby Bear loved that! Didn’t we?” Just stuff like that, where we both experience it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I also tell him/her about the family too.

I plan to start reading some of the millions of books he/she already has in their stash to him/her at night soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

My fiance and I used to read to it! This was once I was about 30 weeks along though. Otherwise, I would just quietly tell him how much I loved him, and how I couldn’t wait to meet him. I would also tell him how lucky I was to have him.

DH is planning on reading Lord of the Rings to me when I’m pregnant. He thinks it’ll make our kid super-cool in utero Undecided

We haven’t been able to really get into this but maybe I’ll try singing or something.  I mean, does the baby really know when you are talking to him/her verus talking to the person next to you?

@farmgirl2106: Too funny, I mean I was just thinking that I talk all day at work and to my husband and dog when I get home.  Its not like I am mute and the baby never hears my voice!
