I was reading a post earlier and realized there seems to be many brides on here about my size! I am 5'11" and have been tall my entire life and always been athletic and weight always varried but I am at my adult normal size 10/12!! I always dated guys taller than me cause I always loved wearing my 3 inch shoes! Not anymore, the love of my life happens to be 5'9"! So I will be wearing sandals and Ballet flats for my wedding! :) Here is a picture of our height difference...Not too bad! Let's see pictures of you and yours!

I'm 6'2" and any guy I've ever seriously dated has always been taller then me. Shorter guys a lot of time don't even register as being guys too me. If that makes any sense. FH is 6'4" and we get comments all the time about our height.  Honestly I forget I'm tall most the time since I've 6'0" since I was 13!

I'm 5' 11" and had always dated taller guys, but I fell head over heels for my 5' 7" FI and have never been happier.  Unfortunately that means I am going to miss out on all of those gorgeous wedding shoes.  I'm consoling myself with some super-comfy flats for the wedding and some killer heels for the bachelorette party.

I forget I am tall too! My mom is my height and when we go places together we get lots of stares! I love being tall! I was 5"9" for as long as I can remember, middles school, high school, then in college I grew an inch and somehwere in my upper 20's grew an inch!

I am also upset about the killer wedding shoes! Thinking I am going to wear heals to at least one wedding function that he will not be there! Like a shower! :)

I'm 5'10" and actually the shortest one in my family!  My FH is the same height as me in stocking feet, so I'm going with ballet flats and he's looking for tux shoes with a little extra sole. :)

We are doing the same! Fiance is wearing Cowboy Boots and I am wearing ballet flats! That will make up our 2 inch difference! :)

I'm 5'8" and 125 and I'm the short fat one in my family (yea...my brothers are like 6'5" and 170 grrr!) My man is 5'9" so I'm looking for ballet flats with ribbons to tie around your legs for my wedding-day shoes :) i'm super excited.  I do wear heels sometimes and I enjoy being taller than him (and like all of my other friends).  It's fun :)

hey!  Yeay for tall girls! :D!

im 5'11'' the boy toy is 5'9''!

i used to think my FH would HAVE to be taller than me, but when i met the boy toy it was all over!  it helps that he love to see me in heals, so i get to wear them whenever i want!

we are going to wear matching chucks to the wedding!! so i will still be taller, but hey, thats us, so whatever!

also, @charismaclassic~ im also the shorty in my family!  my sis is 6'3'', my dad 6'2'', and my mom 6'1''!

@smitha5 - I wonder if I can get mine to agree to that!  Somehow, I doubt it. :)

@duck - It's good to know I'm not alone in that!

We're also having to be a little creative with the processional, etc. since my 6'1" sister looks rather strange standing next to the 5'7" best man.

I always thought I'd end up with someone taller, but most of the men I've dated have been about my height, some an inch or so shorter.  I think when we first started dating and I would wear heels it bothered him, but now he's over it.  Thank goodness - I love my heels.  Just not for the wedding!

I always wore heels and my father always hated it! He is shorter than me and mom! My brother is also my height! So walking down the aisle I will be taller than my dad and leaving I will be taller than my groom! But i would not change being tall for the world! I LOVE IT!

I am 5'9" and the FI is 5'8". Although he has never outright said he would prefer me not wear the huge heels I love, I know he likes when we are closer to the same height. I could not bring myself to wear flats for the wedding, however, so I got "short" 2" heels and we kid that he'll need lifts in his shoes.

I don't think I have ever dated anyone shorter than me, but when it's right, you just know. It's an easy thing to overlook when it's such a non-issue with us. And I'm glad he is comfortable with it - some guys aren't. (One more way to know he's a keeper!)

Congrats to all you other height blessed ladies out there!

I'm 5' 10" and my FI is 5' 11".  So I will be wearing flats for our wedding.  He actually usually wears thicker shoes than me so he seams even taller.

I'm 6'0-1" (slouch matters) and the man is 6'2". Aside from my boyfriend in high school (who was the same height as me at the time) he is the shortest guy I ever dated. My average used to be 6'5"+ because I do NOT like towering over my guy.

That said, I'm wearing ballet flats like so many other of the tall Bees.

I'm 5'8" and so is my husband!! it would be nice if he was a little bit taller - but eh what can ya do? I am actually very particular about my shoes mainly because I have very sensitive feet. I would LOVE to be able to wear heels, but I can't mainly because after about 10 minutes in heels, my feet feel like sandpaper and I want to die. :(

So I bought some GORGEOUS flats and dyed them orange - and I plan on buying ballet flats for the reception.

course the nice thing is - we can look each other straight in the eye!

But - as you can tell, here, I am just slightly taller by like a half inch...

Anyone have actual wedding picutures of the bride being taller than the groom?

I am by no means tall, SO is just short.  I can't decide I I want to wear high heels for the wedding, or flats. If I wear flats I'll be slightly shorter. I need pics to decide!!

I am 5'11 and about 120pds. Or as my sister likes to say the stick figure w/ boobs. My FI is 5'11 too and always loves me in heels. So I am usually either 2-6 inches taller than him. I am wearing flats for the day, because I want to be able to look him straight in the eyes when I say I do. He could care less, prolly prefer me in heels. I also plan on dancing and drinking the night away and want really, really comfertable flats.

I am 5'9" and he is around 5'6" so I am about three inches taller.  The only time we ever notice really is when we are looking in the mirror.  :)   I am a little worried about "towering" over FI on our wedding day, but this is us everyday, so why should the wedding day be any different?

I am 5'6 and my FI swears to be 5'6 too but he is about the same height. its hard to wear heels because i feel like a giant. i am going to rock them anyways for the wedding but i am nervous about our pictures. as soon as the ceremony is over i plan on switching to flats (so my feet dont take a beaten)

i am so in love with him and he loves me in heels lol

not the best pictures of us lol but you can see where i look a lil taller. those shoes that look like heels are actually flats. Also, i have learned to work my legs to where if i bend my knee a little i can get to the same height as him. lol i have all of these tricks when we take a picture.

I'm 5'10" and The Guy is 5'11". I'm wearing 2 3/4" heels for the wedding, by the time you take his dress shoes into account,I think I'll only be about an inch taller than him. I'm going to change into flats for the reception, but really want heels for the ceremony, as I think I carry myself differently/better in heels.

We're both 5'10" but in my family that's short!  My dad is 6'6" and my brother is 6'7" and my younger sister is 6'0"!  I have always dated guys around my height or slightly shorter, it's a fear thing.  I used to be really afraid of being caught in a bad situation and not being able to get out of it, so I figured if we were the same size or I was a little bigger there wouldn't be a problem.

We're the same height in bare feet, almost exactly. I'm wearing flip flops as a result. And maybe Converse sneakers.

I am 5'9, and my FI is 5'11, but i love heels, even though i end up taller than him!  For the wedding, though, i feel like heels+tiara and veil will make me look huge next to him, so I am just going to wear a small heel.

A benefit of being tall: as long as I wear at least a tiny heel, I dont have to pay the $175 to get my dress hemmed (I have like 16 layers of tulle in the skirt lol thats why the hem would be so much)

@Pink Sparkle  If I weren't wearing flats, my seamstress would have saved me a bunch of money too (no need for hem)!

I'm wearing ballet flats because I'm four inches taller than my guy. I'm 5'10" and he's 5'6". Always dated taller or guys the same height. But I met him, fell in love and that is that. I don't wear heels around him though (four inch difference is big enough!)...we don't notice when together-only when we look in the mirror or look at pictures. I'm worried about wedding pics..me looking like I'm towering over him. Hope to get some where I'm sitting and he's standing...

I'm 5'8.5" & he's 5'9", so pretty much the same height!  I also pretty much only dated tall guys, but when you meet the right one, height just seems irrelevant!  :)

He doesn't mind heels, but I'd like to wear flats of some sort for the wedding.  Plan on dancing ALOT!  :)  Problem is that I want hot pink shoes and they need to be vegan!  Sheesh, talk about hard to find some that I love...  Ah well!  The search continues.  :)

I'm 5' 9 and he's 5' 6 but I usually wear heels anyway, at least for special occasions. I'm wearing heels for pics and ceremony (I'm wearing a tea length dress ) and then changing to flats for reception. He doesn't mind the height diff and everyone knows it already so I figure I'll embrace it.

I was dead set against dating someone shorter until I met him, then I had to change my tune.

I am 6'6".  My DH is 5'7 -- maybe.  There's no bending, slouching or anything that is gonna take care of that.  So I wear my heels, because why not?

My grandparents were tall on both sides (grandmas 5'8 and 5'10, grandpas both 6' +) and my 6'2 mom married my 6'7 dad because she "couldn't stand" dating a shorter guy.  Most of my family, male and female is over 5'10.  With all due respect to the ladies that feel they can't date a shorter guy, at 6'6 I didn't really have that option.

Honestly I figured when we started dating that the "novelty" would wear off and we'd eventually part ways because people do stare, comment, and in general make total a@@ of themselves.  Someone once thought my husband was my son! (He is older than I am by several years and actually has grey hair!)

Instead we fell in love.  Yes people still make comments, but as the other ladies said, they make comments no matter who you're with!

@puppymom2006: You win! :-) Actually, you sound a lot like a friend of mine's family. There's about 7 kids boys/girls and the shortest is 6'4." I used to love being near my friend in heels because at 6'7" it was the only time I was like, "so, this is what it feels like to be a normal height." haha Being that I push 6' and FI is over 6'... and I'm the shorty in my family and so is he... there's a strong likelihood that any daughters will be over 6' or at least pushing 6...

Our best man is 5'8" and his wife is 6'. My anatomy teacher in univ. was 6'1" and her husband was 5'6."

As a taller than average girl who has dated shorter men, I was always more upset about the basketball player generalization than any "stares" at our height differentials ;-) But maybe that's because I'm a volleyball player.

@KLP2010: Ha h, I know what you mean!  I'm a v-ball player too.  And my 6'7 brother plays tennis :), my 6'4 uncle plays baseball and my 6'8 cousin is in a rock band and doesn't play any sports at all except maybe on the Wii LOL.

My Mom, however has the perfect line to counter the "do you play basketball" question.  She looks the person in the eye and says, "Why no, do you play minature golf?"

But the best comment ever came from my 5'2 best friend.  We were walking down a street and out of nowhere this older man grabs me and screams "OMG, you're soooo TALL.  How tall are you???" Really obnoxious, plus he would not let go of my arm.  She turned to him and said in an equally loud and obnoxious tone, "OMG you're so FAT, how much do you weigh??"  Then whips out the cell phone, points to his hand on my arm, and says "That's assault & battery, I'm calling the cops!" I was mortified, but at least the guy finally let go of my arm!

I'm 5'10" and my FI is 6'2". I'm wearing ballet flats not only so that I remain shorter than my FI but also so that my dress isnt't too short. If I wanted to wear heals, I would have had to pay extra to add length to my dress.  I'm fine with wearing ballet flats, so I had no problem not having to pay extra for my dress.

I'm 6'3" and my FH is 6'1".  I know that's not a big height difference, but it means a lot to me that FH doesn't care about it at all.  He encourages me to wear heels.  All the time.  He loves them.  My sister suggested that I wear flats for the wedding before I'd given it a thought.  When I asked FH, he pointed out that I walk very differently in different kinds of shoes.  So it's 2" lady-like heels for me.  :)  They took forever to find, but I love them.
