I’m 5’8″ and my dress was just long enough.  I made sure to buy shoes the right height so I didn’t have to add length.

I’m 6’0″ (6’2″ here with my heels). I ordered extra length since you could see up to my ankles when I walked in the standard size. Watters wanted extra measurements to make sure the torso was proportional to my overall height too. Yay 🙂

Imagine this in ivory:

I’m “only” 5’7″ but will need to be careful about heel height since I decided not to order extra length (Marisa’s extra length is a large amount, like 8″ additioanl?  When I only would’ve wanted 1″ or 2″ of that).  I tried on a consignment Vera Wang originally worn by a bride who was 6’2″ w/out heels – I would’ve felt SO BAD hemming off all that gorgeous fabric, esp. since I can’t imagine what extra length on a Vera costs!

Tall girls unite! I take it when you went to try on your dresses you took heels. If you wore 2″ heels to the shopping event but months later found your 3″ wedding heels, would that/did that make a big difference in the length you needed?

I’m 5’10” and will be dress shopping in the fall. Just curious.

@LilRhodyGem:

I picked out my shoes before I picked out my dress (I know this isn’t common) so I wore my actual wedding shoes to try on all the dresses. They usually ask you though if you want to try on some shoes they have there to get an idea for height. Maybe try on a dress with 2 inch and 3 inch heels to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes if a dress has a lot of tulle or something, it won’t. And if you order extra length of a standard amount, they can always alter it shorter when the dress comes in (you should have your actual shoes by then).

@Pinkmoon:  I can’t post a pic because my username is too well known by friends! I’m 5’11 1/2″ and my dress is very very similar to yours in size and shape – just no strap. I didn’t need to order extra length because the bottom pick up can easily be moved. And I only needed 1/2 and inch anyway (with two inch heels).

@LilRhodyGem:  Yes, I would wear a pair of shoes the tallest that you might choose to make sure you’ve got the length!

As for hair, I’m probably going to tho for a half-up do, but without too much lift because I’m already going to be towering over my OH!

Yay, tall girls in dresses! I don’t have a dress twin either.

I wore flats to try on, since I’m wearing flats to the wedding. (DF is only an inch or two taller than I am.) And since mine was made to my measurements, it’s very much long enough!

Posting to follow. I’m newly engaged and it will be a fairly long engagement so I’m not seriously looking for dresses yet but I’m 6’1″ and have been curious about dresses with extra lengths including longer torsos.

I haven’t bought it yet, but I found a store in my town that carries it and I’m definitely getting it soon! All the other details I have yet to figure out! lol

@LilRhodyGem I took three different pairs of heels of varying heights with me.  The ones that were the right height I carried them with me shoe shopping until I found my wedding shoes that were of the same height.  I had no idea how long or short a dress was going to be on me and I didn’t want to wear flats.
