So I'm not THAT tall, but I do have freakishly long legs and a short torso. I'm 5'7" and was really freaked out about finding a dress that fit right. I did end up having to add length, but am really glad the short torso worked out for me. My legs are also my favorite part about my body, so I'm happily sportin' a trumpet silhouette that rocks my long, sexy legs!
I don't have a Maggie story, but I did find a perfect length gown at Davids! I bought a discontinued Davids that I loved off of e-bay for cheap, hoping that it would be just long enough with flats. Not so much. So I went into the store hoping that they would have one dress that was long enough for me that I loved. Lo and behold, they had a perfect chiffon dress that was the exact right length for me with flats! The lining is a tiny bit short, but the chiffon goes an inch longer, so it is just right. I am super happy about it.
We have the same dress, Milana, I am 5'9" and with my 2" heels no hem is needed which is awesome!
Well i'm right at 5'11" and my maggie came RIGHT to the floor, no extra length or any of that! I wore flats, naturally.
But yes. Perfect. I didn't even need alterations!
@ Mrs. Dee to Bee - I totally get you on the freakishly long legs. But, at least stores are getting better about carrying other pant lengths.
@ rachel leigh - kudos on the DB score! Disappointing about the first dress, but I'm glad it worked out!
I'm 5'11 and was so excited to hear the dress I bought, Pronovias Galante, will probably not have to be altered in length once it arrives. I am also long torso'd and will rock this dress on my wedding day! :)

BTW I also tried on Maggie dresses that I LOVED and almost bought one if this one hadn't called out to me.
I'm (almost) 5'11" and my Sottero and Midgely fits with 2.5" heels too! Woot! I'm SO happy about it because I had the same fears as you!
I'm 5'10" and I got a la sposa by pronovias...I wore maybe 1 3/4 inch ballet "flats" and it was PERFECT. I didn't even have to have any alterations except the bustle and the straps.
@michelleminier - The Galante is gorgeous!
I'm also glad to hear that Maggie seems to love tall girls as much as we love her!
I had wonderful luck trying on runway samples -- all of them were absolutely the perfect length! Only trouble is that there aren't that many runway samples hanging around :) But it was soooo nice to try on all these amazing dresses and know they were built just for someone my size -- which NEVER happens!
I bought my dress at Monique Lhuillier and never altered the length at 6'1 w/36" inseem. :)
I was also super excited with my Maggie (Greta) - I am 5' 9'' and am actually able to wear about 2'' heels with it (something I never thought would happen without ordering extra lenght).

At 6' tall (or as I like to call it, 5'11" and 3/4), I knew shopping for a wedding dress could be challenging. (and I know there's lots of taller ladies than me out there, and I feel for you - I know what you're going through!)
My head was filled with visions of trying on dresses that almost graze the floor, don't have a long enough torso, have a too long torso (as you can tell, my torso is a strange length). And having to fork out extra $$ to pay for a long-length gown (that I would chop off most of the added length) was giving me nightmares. If I got the longer length, would it look the same? What if it wasn't long enough? What if, what if, what if.
Then I met my beautiful Maggie Sottero Milana. Not only did she fit perfectly as is (no long-length order required!), but I could wear up to a 2" heel with her, in all her regular length glory. I was thrilled - finding pants is a challenge, getting jackets and long-sleeved shirts that don't make me look like I have long monkey arms is a challenge. But finding my wedding dress? Easy! And for once, I didn't feel like a circus freak trying on cloths.
So, tall ladies - share your stories of finding the perfect gown!
