Wow, this was 4 months ago! Forgive the bump, but I'm still wondering if there are any other N. Fl girls around?
Hi :) I'm a Panhandle bride too. I guess you could say I am a Tallahassee/Panama City Beach and everywhere in between bride to be to. I just got engaged not too long ago, so I'm not quite in the loop with bridal shows and stuff but if I do find out about stuff I will be sure to post.
@HoneyBunny - good to know I'm not the only one out there!!! I'll post of any upcoming shows I hear about as well!!!
And, CONGRATS on your engagement!!!
@HoneyBunny.... nope, 10/10/10... we still have a whole YEAR :-D
However, I *am* getting excited. We've already been engaged for a year, so it does feel like "half-way there"!!!

@navybaby1113 - We're doing the ceremony & reception at Bradley's Pond. It's GORGEOUS!!! What about you?
@amester26 -- Ours is at Willow Pondd. We were thinking about Bradley's Pond, but it was a little out of our budget.
@navybaby1113 -- any vendors you're still looking for? I have a KICK-BUTT photographer who has AWESOME rates *and* she's a totally cool chick. I would recommend her highly! Her name is Kimberly Brock with KimBe Studios. A lot of the vendors I met with were reallllly snobby and/or expensive.Kimberly is a doll!
To be fair, Bradley's was prolly a little out of my budget too
, but I feel in looooove when we checked it out. So, we made it happen. I've never been to Willow Pond, but I hear it's really pretty!

Not from tally but I travel up there (my work makes me travel everywhere in fl plus al, ms, ga, la.) and I know a great friend of mine who is also a DOC and is amazing...
if anyone needs one ;)

magsnmoose -- Where are you getting married? We're using Sonnys BBQ as our caterer because we love their food.
amester -- I have a fantastic photographer, but I'm still looking for a DOC, cake baker, florist, and rentals. Any recs?
navybaby- we're getting married at goodwood museum. sonnys is a great idea! we were talking bbq or southern comfort food. :)
i think we might actually be doing our cake from publix- they mocked up what i wanted and have great prices (plus it tastes great!)
i'm still looking for florist and rentals as well. let me know if you hear of anyone good!!
Sonnys is under $10 per person too and you get tons of food! I definitely recommend them.
I was thinking of Publix for a cake, but I realize they were about as expensive as a local baker so we'll looking at going with The Cake Shop. Their cakes are gorgeous!
What are your colors and what's your date?
@ magsnmoose - Hello! We are using Johnston's Catering from Monticello. The food is great. The owner is REALLY country and he's a little on the chatty side, but they are treating us really well.
@navybaby1113 - I love our baker. We're going with Tiki's Tasties. She makes the most elegant cakes, and they are SO GOOD. You should check out her website. I know it sounds like a strip joint, LOL, but seriously her work is awesome!
I managed to luck out and get a DOC for FREE. A friend of my mom actually coordinates on the side, and when she found out we weren't having (AKA couldn't afford) one, she stepped in and offered.

Yea, I really need to get on the ball with a caterer and baker. I'm not too worried about a caterer because we're really just looking at our other options and we're most likely going with Sonnys, but still.
Our colors are green, pink, and champagne and we're getting married March 27th. You're getting married the day we leave for our honeymoon!
@navybaby- where are you going on your honeymoon? we need to start thinking about that too. :)
We're going on a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on the brand new Carnival Dream. She'll only have been sailing for about 6 months by the time of our cruise. We splurged for a balcony too. We chose to leave a month after the wedding because that sailing was cheaper.
We also won a 4 night honeymoon to an all-inclusive in Barbados. All we have to pay for is the flight which will be a little over $1000.
Hi Hive! Sorry I haven't been on the local boards recently. My FI and I are currently located in Tally but will be having the wedding in my hometown of Melbourne FL on 6/5/2010. A lot of my friends have gotten married up here, 2 actually at the Melhana/Coalson plantation.
@Navybaby: That sounds like an awesome honeymoon! My FI doesn't like cruises that much so I think we are going to try to fly up to Maine for a week or so. Since we are going to do the honeymoon right after the wedding in June, we are trying to actually go somewhere cooler than FL. That is awesome you are using Sonneys. My FI and I really want to do that because we love their food but my parents won't let us (and they are paying). I think we are going to use them for the rehersal dinner. That is great to hear they are only about $10 pp.
We did decide to go with Publix cake. We found their regular icing prices to be very reasonable. We are having about 175 people at the wedding, but only getting a wedding cake for about 100. We will get a large sheet cake/grooms cake for the rest. I am surprised to hear that the prices weren't that different. I think publix was going to come out to about $400 for the three tier that we wanted.

I am on the hunt for a DOC now, any suggestions? We are also thinking of using Publix for our cake, but I haven't gone to discuss options with them yet.
