@rdownie1:  you two are so cute though! We get strange looks all the time only because I’m really tiny/petite compared to my linebacker husband. He’s 6′ and I’m 5′ barefoot so there’s a gap between us. When we go to kiss, my boobs bounce off his upper belly area lol. Not the greatest pic of us sorry! That day I had on thick soled tennis shoes so the gap wasn’t so bad lol.

@rdownie1:  I’m 4 inches taller! Both of us of course noticed it a lot when we first started dating 5 years ago, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker for us and we don’t even notice the difference unless we look at pics of us together. Since I’m 4 inches taller, I wore flats at the wedding and almost always wear flats if we are going out. No need to make the gap even bigger, but no, I’m not self-conscious about it (neither is he) and because we are different races, that makes us even more unique. πŸ™‚

I am technically taller than SO… 5’10” (him) vs. 5’11.5″.  I usually appear another inch or two taller because my posture is a little better than his.  I am a big girl, so people usually notice my height and weight at the same time in comparison to him.  But funnily enough, as I am losing weight before the wedding, he tends to be gaining a bit.

I’m wearing flats for our wedding because I really only wear flats due to issues with my left ankle.  I’ve only worn heels around him once, they were 5in and just for an intimate evening, but I think they scared him.  Imagine coming home to a girlfriend who’s pushing 6’5″!!

I’m about an inch taller than Fiance. Not very noticable, we usually just look identical in height. I’ll wear completely flat fancy sandal type shoes on my wedding. My dress is super long anyways, so my feet are covered. Fiance will wear dress shoes to get us identical in height, or him a little bit taller.

I might see if he’ll wear elevator shoes, but only if they’re comfy. In the big scheme I could care less about how tall he is πŸ™‚

I can honestly say I have never noticed a couple based on thri height. I did date a guy about an inch shorter than me once ( I’m 5’5), so he was below average in height, and everyone felt the need to comment on it. It really annoyed me, because I never even noticed his height when I began dating him. For some reason everyone else thought it was their gosh darn business though!

I think whatever is going to make your fiance most comfortable is best for him of course, but I don’t think he should have to feel like he has to wear insoles to be taller. Poor guy! You uys look fine in that pic, and I’m sure even if you are wearing heels!

Fi is about 5’2-5’3ish and I am 5’6 and yes we get looks but I hardly ever even notice them anymore (and most the time I assume they are looking because of our race difference or the fact we both look younger than our age and have 2 kids….)

And I am wearing flats and he wants to get lifts for his shoes….

  • How many taller brides are out there?

Taller Bride here! I’m 5’6.5 and I have Fiance by 1/2 inch  πŸ™‚ He could care less..but I’m always concerned about how we look in photos, where I need to wear heels. Lucky for me, I hate to wear heels for too long.

  • Do people look at you in a weird way?

No, but hell I really wouldn’t know…I see the mini height difference(no pun intended) in photos.

  • What shoes are you wearing on your wedding day?

Beacuse of my dislike for heels, I was thinking ballet slippers, for comfort nd photos but I have no clue yet what our venue is…and I could never suggest to him to get inserts…he will have to make that decision on his own…

I am about an inch taller than SO. He’s 5’7″ and I am 5′ 8″. I have worn heels around him which make me about 4-5″ taller but for our wedding I will probably wear flats! I’d rather be comfortable anyway and my feet tend to be very sensitive so heels these days. I can only seem to tolerate Calvin Klein heels for any length of time so I am planning on getting some white Calvin Klein flats and dressing them up. No one has ever looked at us weird for our height difference that I have noticed but friends made some comments when we first started dating since all my exes we’re over 6′ tall.

A friend of mine however is 5’10” and her SO is 5’7″ and I know it bothers her greatly. She constantly complains when she sees short women with very tall men. She feels tall women are entitled to those tall men out there! Her and her SO have been together for 4 years though so I hope she gets past that completley some day and doesn’t always in the back of her mind resent her height.
