What are thoughts on being taller than fiancé on weddig day?! We are almost same height barefoot; he’s about an inch or so taller. I am a big ‘shoe’ gal and the thought of wearing flats on my wedding day is less than exciting. But I also don’t want to be towering over him in pictures. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was solution? Thanks ladies!

Eh, I think it’s fine. I would probably wear flats just so pictures look nicer, but if you want to wear heels then go for it!

Hi there. I’m in the same boat. I’ve been struggling to find not-too-high shoes that aren’t ugly, geriatric, or cheap looking.
My preference to is to look as short as possible next to my fiance.
I’ve been looking into elevator shoes for my fiance to wear at the wedding. They can give a few inches of height and the lift is built into the shoes so it is comfortable and not obvious looking. They do sell insertable lifts that are considerably cheaper, but I’m worried his heel would slip out of the shoe or he would trip or something.
As for me, I found a company that makes flats using crystals or pearls, and you can customize the colors on the shoe as well. You can find them here: http://www.marcdefang.com/category_s/1884.htm
They also have options for 2 inch heels as well. I’m not sure how I feel about the pearls but the crystals are kinda cute.
Hope this helps 🙂

Oh and also, Kate Spade has lower heel shoe options too. They’re cute and not too high.

I’m in the same boat. FI and I are about the same height. I’ve been looking for flats to no avail but I’ve yet to find anything that really looks nice.
Maybe look into shoes that will make your FI taller. May work a bit better if you want heels.

I’m only 1/2 inch shorter than FI. I prefer not to be taller than him so I am wearing flats. It’s an outdoor wedding so I wouldn’t want heels anyways. And I prefer to be comfortable.

I’m going to wear flats since I’m just as tall as my fiancé.

I found a short wedge so I wasn’t completely flat footed, but no one could even see the back of my shoes. So if you wear flats, you might not be able see them with a long dress in person and especially in photos! 🙂

Do you girls think flat will make you ‘slouch’ more? I always feel like my posture is better in heels…. 🙁 I guess that’s my main concern. the shoes will be hidden from dress anyways.

@McBezel: I never even thought about that or knew they existed!!! Was your fiancé open to wearing them? My fiancé is extremely confident and not bothered by height, but I wonder if asking him to wear lag how lift would make him upset. I don’t want him to think it bothers me.

I’m about an inch taller than my fiance too – that’s why I’m going to wear flats on the big day. He isn’t aware of this as I normally wear heels when we go out together and tower over him. I thought I would leave it as a surprise for him I figure it’s all about the dress and photos for me. I know that no one will really see my shoes anyway and he’ll feel heaps better if I’m not towering over him. Sometimes we forget that it is the groom’s day too! Plus if we’re looking like a million bucks then we need a groom looking like a million bucks standing beside us
Another bonus is that I’ll b more comfortable! We’re having a cocktail style reception so mingling in heels all night might have been a hassle.

I don’t have personal experience with this (FI is 6’6), but my sister and my BIL are both right around 6’0. She wore a low heel (maybe 2 inches, max) for the wedding, so she was a bit taller than him. But she wanted the shoes and they were gorgeous. And the pictures don’t look weird at all! FWIW, she did change to flat sneakers for the reception so there were some pics when she wasn’t taller.
Anyway, I just think you should wear what you want. The pics won’t be totally weird. If you’re tall rock it 🙂 I’m insanely jealous of tall girls! And if you’ll be comfy in heels and like heels more than flats, who cares?

I don’t care for the girl looking taller than her guy. If I had gone with 3″ heels, I probably would have been taller, so I stuck with 1 1/2″ heels.

Greatly expanded my adorable flat collection since dating a shorter man. And if you’re looking for a wedding appropriate flat, I adore these:
Yes they’re expensive now, but almost everything on Kate Spade’s website ends up going on sale, sometimes even to second or third cuts and you can get them cheaper if you’re patient. I’ve found this is true with a lot of retailers actually. Rock those flats! 🙂

I am 4 inches taller than FI. I love heels and wear them all the time when we are together. I have 3 inch heels for the wedding. I don’t really buy into the “it’s ok for the guy to be taller but not the girl” and think it’s kind of silly.
