Justbrynne:  I’m so glad you posted this.  I am 5ft6 and my FI is 5ft8, I was going to wear ballet type flats just to keep from being taller than her, however then I found (and fell in love with) a pair of Michael Kors heels that are a perfect match to my dress.  I will be taller than her by about an inch or two.  I considered removing them for the photos of us together (minus the ceremony photos) but would love to see everyones photos of them taller than their groom or in my case ‘hersband’.  😉

And she doesn’t care when I’m in heels and taller than her, she has much the same sentiment as your FI…lol

I don’t have my pictures back yet, but I’m taller. I did wear flats though and with him in dress shoes it almost worked out. That should be similar for you – most guys dress shoes seem to be around 1″ so if you’re wearing 3″ heels and you had a 2″ barefoot difference, then you’ll be pretty much the same height.

Justbrynne:  lol, I’m taller than my FI without even wearing shoes. Not married yet though, so I cant show you any pictures.

I realize this is extremely unhelpful. Haha.

Justbrynne:  Not as common sure, but not unheard of! Theres even celebrity couples where the woman is taller. Look at Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban!

Don’t even worry about your height and what people think. Society has placed some crazy standard on that a man MUST be taller than the woman in a relationship. I’m 5’9″ and my FI is 5’6″. It doesn’t bother us a single bit, and like your FI, mine LOVES when I wear heels…my heels generally make me at least 6 or 7 inches taller than he is. Your FMIL shouldn’t be telling you how you want things on your wedding day.

… I’d add a picture, but there is no longer “insert” option. Not sure how everyone else does it.

rhiannonzdanowicz:  Hahahah! I love “hersband” too!! What are you using as a “groom” or “groomsmen” equivalent. I’m still trying to find something cute!

Justbrynne:  I worry about the same thing!!! I think I’ll be wearing flats, itty bitty kitten heels, or taking photos on a hill. My FI isn’t a good sport about it like yours! Lol

Justbrynne:  These kind of topics annoy me.

I am 2″ taller than my husband which gets a big, fat, “so what?” from us. We look great together and if someone else wants to have heartburn over the fact that I’m taller, that’s their issue – not ours.

LadyAprill:  she’s still just a bride but we both have mixed genders on each side and I have a “male of honor”. She has a best man and a bridesmaid and a “bridedude” lol and I have two bridesmaids and a male of honor.  She likes to remind me despite her wearing a tux she is still a bride and should get some say so….lol. I call her the “bride lite” lol

rhiannonzdanowicz:  lmbo @bride lite! I like bride dude, but there are a few on my FI’s side that “bridesmaid” just doesn’t quite fit! I’m trying to figure out something cute. Eventhough my FI is a totally involved diva, I think she would probably prefer some title other than bride too lol. The search continues!!!

I am so glad you posted this.  I haven’t gotten my shoes yet and will be having the same issue.  I’m 5’5 barefoot he’s 5’4.  We’re little 🙂 I usually don’t wear heels when we’re out together, but for the wedding I think I’m going to need to make an exception 😉
