Sooooooooo I have fair fair faiiiir skin that does not tan AT ALL, in fact, it comes in two colors: white or RED.  One of my BMs said to me today that because I have a strapless wedding dress that I need to be careful this summer about getting sunburns because I could have weird tan lines for my Oct. wedding!  Guess I'll be slathering on the spf 70 and wearing sleeves this summer!!! Tongue out

OMG I am dealing with this now! I actually FLASH-tan: I get out in the sun for ten minutes and I am a totally different color!

I play outdoor sports every week so I had to actually buy a special shirt for it to get rid of my racerback tan right down the middle of my shoulder blades. ;) Not only did I not start early enough, but I didn't wear enough sunblock on my arms (it's a short-sleeve high crew-neck) and now I have an arm tan, too!!

I'm in the same boat!  I'm going to Vegas with my girls for my bachelorette party and i'm stocking up on sunscreen and taking t-shirt cover ups so hopefully I can avoid awful tan lines for my May wedding.  Damn Irish skin!

Teacher, I have very fair skin as well, and I burn easily! I know...we are going to have to be sooo careful! But it will be worth it for the gorgeous photos. :)

@spaniel - ahhh your wedding is this month! :)  Could you try a very subtle spray tan to even you out??  I've never tried it!

@ladyox - agreed - I am Portuguese and Irish and WISH I inherited the Portuguese skin like my brother did - but I am a Whitey McIrish all the way!!!! :)

Yeah, i'm going to need to invest in a bandeau top bikini this summer--can't have tan lines with my dress. I still have mine from last summer!

Wear a bandeau style swimsuit this year.  You can wear the removable straps if you are doing something that needs extra support but if you are laying out you can take it off to prevent tan lines.  I had one when I went to aruba and no tan lines.  It was great.  Mine is from jcrew and I love it.  I plan to buy more as I also have a strapless wedding dress and  our wedding is on a beach after a week there with the families.  I cannot have tan lines.  haha

I'm doing the same as Miss.skinner. I stocked up on bandeau swimwear so I dont have to worry about tan lines. I plan on hitting the pool as soon as the weather lets me which hopefully gives me 1.5 mths to get a base tan before our beach wedding.

Hm... I've never done a spray tan before... I'm afraid it will rub off on my dress or flake or get patchy (or something bad!). Luckily I have so little time to get outdoors these days that it might have started to fade a little. ;)

I tried wearing a strapless top/bikini top all summer, but it was easier to just cover my tan lineswith a bronzer mousse before the wedding worked perfectly! Ours was in October too!  My tan lines are barely there!

@LadyJenn - wow thanks for the tip!  I am going to save this in case I have any sunburn disasters this summer!  Can you tell me which brand you used?  And if you have any tips for using it? :)  Thanks!

@spaniel - where did you get the special shirt? I've got the same problem - my racer back bike jersey has left me with two tanned shoulders and a horrid white strip down the center!

@toothfairyb: Sounds like we have the same tan line. ;) I got it from REI. I think it's Adidas, actually. It's just a standard athletic shirt with a slightly higher SPF than a t-shirt, and more breathable than cotton. I bet they make it in long sleeve too (which is what I should have got, but I was afraid it'd be too hot!).

It was a recommendation from Kandee the makeup artist on you tube..it's the best tanner on the market.  It's called St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse and a small bottle is like $27 and the large one is like $40.  Two applications and your tan lines are gone, I did it a couple of days before the wedding so I would be nice and clean and no rub off on my dress.  It's like and works awesome. Even used some on my face! You can get it online or a beauty supply store.

Also they do make tan thru bathsuits...they do cost more and not that stylish. However they do work and you wont have tan lines.
