I swore off tanning beds two years ago, mostly because I want to put off wrinkles and avoid skin cancer. However, I am getting married in January, and it is only November and I am scary pale. I normally wouldn't care about being pale, but I am much more confident and look much better in pictures when I am tan.... and hate spray tans. Should I just tan for one last streak so I love my wedding pictures? Is it worth it?I mean, you only get married once right? I'm conflicted.

They always make me look like a pumpkin, and never really give the same glow that comes from a real one Undecided

I'm really fair as well and I just don't think it's worth it...using tanning beds before the age of 30 increases your risk of skin cancer by 70%.  THAT is scary.  Not to mention the wrinkles, dry and peely skin, etc.  Have you tried Clarins self tanning lotions and gels?  They are nice, subtle and natural looking and you can control the depth of the tan by how many applications you do.

Yea I'm gonna try some more products to see if I can get a realistic fake one, I have a few months to work with. My skin tans easily and doesn't burn easily, its just really pale because I slather sunscreen on every day to prevent sun damage... which is why I'm so darn conflicted

I used to fake bake, but I was very against doing it for my Feb. wedding.  I did an airbrush tan, and I highly recommend it!  It is MUCH better than a mystic tan.

I'm also very pale, but I think pale skin against a white dress is just gorgeous.  I think it makes brides look like little porcelain dolls when they leave their skin alone.  Plus, in January, everyone will know it's fake anyway.  I don't mind tans in the spring, summer, and sometimes even fall, but it's just so unnatural to be tan in the winter.

not worth it.  You only get married once but you also only have one life and I don't think looking tan is worth sacrificing it.

I hightly recommend airbrush tanning.  It looks really natural and even and not at all orange.

i agree with cannot wait, do a airbrush tan. I use the jergens body glow lotion and then get a airbrush tan. If you get an airbrush tan with only one coat it comes out very natural. I do them all the time and no one knows they are fake. Definitly try it out before the wedding.

Don't do it!  It's so not worth it.  Do an at-home gradual tanner or a spray tan if you must.

I just don't think putting myself at risk for skin cancer is worth having a tan.  I used self-tanner and was really happy with my wedding photos.  Also, think of all the fantastic celebs with perfect pale skin--Anne Hathaway is a great one.  You don't HAVE to be tan to look great.  If you do want a tan, I'd recommend either a spray tan or some self-tanner.  I love the Olay Touch of Sun daily stuff.  It's subtle enough to look real and doesn't get streaky.

Yeah, tanning isn't worth the aging/cancer/wrinkles for sure!  I rocked the pale bride thing and loved it!  I don't like spray tans and love my pale complexion!  I think as long as you have blush on your face you won't look like a ghost.

The health risk is certainly not worth it for one day.  Try an airbrush tan.  It's SO MUCH BETTER than Mystic.

Don't do it!! I watched my Dad die of skin cancer two years ago...think of it this way. Replace tanning with drunk driving. Is it okay to do it once? Nope. Same with tanning. It is a chance nobody should make when there are decent alternatives.

I use the Jergens Express lotion from Walgreens and it's awesome! Exfoliate when you're in the shower, then put it on when you get out and are still a little damp. It doesn't turn out orangy at all, just natural looking. Exfoliating is the key so it doesn't stick to the dry spots.

oh, and I definitely think pale brides are beautiful, but I have rosascea (sp?) and acne, so the tan made me feel more confident    with the right makeup, it really isn't needed for most people, esp. for a winter wedding!  I hate it when you see someone in the winter who is darker than they usually are in the summer, and you know they used a tanning bed..ICK
