I have already started tanning for my Aug wedding. I want a tan before the summer starts to prevent as many tan lines as possible. And I am doing it really slowly (I am fair) I got two times a week for 4 min in a 10min max stand-up bed.
Do you tan easily? Are you worried about tan lines for the summer? You could always start now and slow down closer to the wedding if you think you are getting to dark.
I go tanning and am fair skinned. I usually go two-three times/week and go in super or mega beds (just a slight increase from a regular) for about 8-10 minutes depending. If I go in a regular bed I go for 12 (I started about 2 months ago at 6 minutes).
I don't want to look orange or leathery but I can already tell I have a slight sunkissed color which is way more appealing then my super white (to me, on me! some ivory women look stunning!).
I agree with @futuremrsm...start now and go very slowly. Make sure you wear proper eye wear and I also put a tiny spf on my hands/neck since those areas get wrinkly/show age first.
I suggest bestpricetanning.com because the prices are SO much less then in salons (the salons prices are pushed WAY up because the workers recieve commissions for the sales).
I like designerskin and californiatan
I've been told to be extremely careful with bronzer as it can make you look "orange" instead of tan. I'm not sure how true that is though, you might want to ask the person working at the salon.
This place sells lotions at cost. Usually 1/3 of what my tanning salon charges. You'll have to call to place an order and have in mind what you want. They don;t have a very impressive website for that, but the savings makes up for it!
That said, I started tanning in late January for a mid-April wedding.
Ladies,
Thanks so much for your advice. It sounds like I should start now and go slowly. I want to avoid getting tan lines and getting a "leather-like" appearance too. I will follow your recommendations about the lotions too. Thanks for the help, ya'll!

Hi Bees,
I am getting married on July 3rd and would like to have some color. I was wondering what would be a good time-line for me to begin the process? I will probably be able to go a couple of times per week. (I don't want to do the spray tan because I'll be going to the Cayman Islands the following week). Thanks for your "words of wisdom" in advance.
Sincerely,
Melissa
