I’m registered with Target and haven’t had any problems so far, of course I haven’t had my first shower yet.  I asked this same question on The Knot and the responses were mostly from brides who had registries years ago and the problems have since been resolved OR their is a problem returning items.

I registered at Target (both for wedding and baby). I have no complaints.

We registered at target and recieved six crock pots because once the item was bought they never took it off the registry ! Even though they scanned the registry. And on top of that they only let you return up to so much a year.

@mrshersch74:  That’s without a receipt, right?

I started an online registry with Target. Somehow another company pulled my information off of their site and broadcasted it on theirs! The other company only had our names, list, and wedding date, but it still made me uncomfortable. When I called Target they said they would look into it.. but never did anything.  o.0.  I just wouldn’t register online.

Also, Target is TERRIBLE at checking things off the registry. I recently went to a shower where there were many doubles, even though each of us marked it off the registry. (We bought it online.. from the registry!)

Um, so I lied in my earlier comment I have a shower this weekend so people only just started buying off our registry.  Right now it says “9 items purchased” and when I select “purchased items” it shows a total of 6 items purchased!  Also, it’s slow to update because I know for a fact my aunt bought us 2 curtains that were on there 2 days ago and they’re still listed as unpurchased.

I can only hope that the registry people pull up in store is updated otherwise I’m probably going to have a few doubles!  I’ll let you know after the shower Sunday.

For the record, I went and purchased some bed sheets off our registry… as soon as I got home it was updated as purchased so I’m not sure where these problems are coming from – maybe online purchases as @OnceUponATime:  mentioned?
