I’ve contacted Target a couple of times but haven’t had any luck. They don’t have the friendliest return policy so I’m pretty worried. My registry doesn’t show when items have been purchased! I have to go in and manually update the registry every time I receive a gift. I know for a fact that two things my mom bought in store and they scanned the sheet, and two others she bought online through my registry and they also didn’t show up.
Did anyone else have this problem? What did you do about it?

I havent had that problem, but the first thing you should check is to make sure the purchaser is giving the person at the checkout the list with the scanner thing on it.
If they are, make sure the checkout person actually scans it.
Otherwise, I would call their corporate number if it is at different locations, or the store manager if it is at the same place.

Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right. The whole point is that it should automatically update. First, I would make sure that your guest is actually attributing it to the registry. Your guest might have gone to the store, looked at your registry, and simply purchased it on his/her own, without also scanning your registry.
Second, I would see if it updates in the store, or when a guest logs on through the Target website (without your password). Maybe its just not showing up to you. Which might not be a bad thing– this way you won’t ruin the surprise by seeing what has been purchased. But if a guest logs on to your site, or goes into the store and can’t see what has and hasn’t been purchased, this can cause a big headache for you, because you’ll get lots of double gifts that you’ll have to return (with their not so friendly return policy).
Can you go to a local store? You might get a better answer in person.

I know exactly what you are talkijg about! I’ve been a BM in 2 different weddings within the past 6 months and both brides had this problem! One of the birdes ended up getting 5 of the same gifts… then couldn’t return them all…
I wish I had an answer to this problem, but unfortunately, neither bride could seem to do anything about it 🙁 Perhaps if you spoke personally with a manager asap!

I have had this problem when purchasing from others’ registries. I think part of it is that sometimes, people look at the registry, buy something, and then don’t tell the counter person that it’s for a registry. But I know that on several occasions at different Target stores, the counter person could not get the registry scan thing to work and just gave up… and there you go, repeat gifts! It’s a mess.
