I'm a June 2010 bride and since I'm getting married on Cape Cod I'm trying to book things early. Can anyone tell me how many tastings I should expect to book? I'm not familiar with the area caterers. I was thinking probably around 2 but I'd love to hear any advice, suggestions and what to expect! Tastings : wedding Icon Confused

I chose 1-2, even though I had no tastings before I picked the caterer. I picked a caterer based on menu options and price, and then had tastings with the caterer I had picked and paid the deposit to. Maybe that's not how things are supposed to be done though.

I think alot of it depends on the Venue. Our venue does not have anything on site-- so their are MANY catering options. Our venue gave us a list of about 20 caterers that they have worked with and recommend. The list covered ALL possible price points, and after calling around and checking online-- we ended up doing tasting with 5! If my fiance had it his way-- we would have tasted at them all =) Nonetheless, we ended up going with caterer 4 of 5 after comparing all the foods, prices, and experiences with the caterer reps!

My advice is go to the tastings hungry and get ready to really compare them! We are really happy and excited about our pick becuase of the comparisons! I would also let the caterers know that you are "tasting around town" becuase it might help you score a little bit of a deal-- or at least make them willing to work with you!  Good Luck!

Thanks hirsche! That's great advice! Our reception site is a relative's home (yard) with a tent so we have tons of options! Looks like I've some tastings to book!Tastings : wedding Icon Biggrin
