Honestly I’m not fond of the design. The watercolor does look like a paint splatter and over time will probably look like a skin disease. The dandelion is a design that’s just way overdone, tons of people have it.

Why not ask your girls for design ideas that represent them? That would make it even more sentimental.

I LOVE the watercolor look personally and even though the design is “overdone” I would get it as dandelions have a special meaning for me.

I love the design! I think tats on thigh hurt less than on the shoulder, but some would disagree with me.

Not a fan of it and it looks like someone splattered paint all over you.  So I side with your FI on this one

@figgnewton:  I think watercolor can be gorgeous, but you need to go to the proper artist. The design in this one is less than stellar and I’m not a fan at all. Do some serious research and look for specialized japanese style artists. The one in the picture you posted looks like someone really inexperienced with watercolor style did it.

I’m not a big fan of thigh tattoos in general, but I really do think a dandelion design would look best on the shoulder. Less likely to get nasty looking over time, too. 🙂

Edit: I think their birth flowers would be much more meaningful. Dandelion tattoos are becoming such a trendy thing.

Watercolor Dandelion. I would like mine a lot smaller and more color :)

I love tattoos done without lots of outlines. But you have to be careful with the watercolor ones. A bad artist can ruin it. I’d spend a lot of time thinking about the dandelion because it’s so trendy. Does it have meaning to you?

@figgnewton:  that would be lovely! It’s just y’know that stick figure dandelion blowing in the wind, as PP showed, is such a generic tattoo and wouldn’t immediately be recognized as representing your family.

High thigh doesn’t hurt too bad, outside is way less painful than the inside. Personally, I’m not really a fan of the watercolor. To me it seems trendy, but that’s my personal taste and I’m not much of a trendy person anyway. If you want to incorporate names, I saw a really cool one just a few nights ago that used the guys kids names in cursive. The cursive was incorporated into the design, if they were not pointed out, you would never have seen them. Wish I had gotten a pic of it.
