I think I remember there being a post like this before. But I thought I'd make a new one to show off my brand spankin' new tattoo I got last night :) It's for my daughter!
This is my 3rd.
Are you planning on hiding, flaunting, or just doing nothing special with yours on your big day?
I wore a strapless dress and my hair up, so all of my tattoos were visible. 3 on my back, and one of my inner left wrist.
An ouroborus in the middle of my back that I got for my 19th birthday.
My zodiac sign (Aries, the Ram) on the back of my neck (20th birthday)
A fleur de lis with NOLA and 8/29 written around it (Spring of 2006, post Katrina. My father has a matching one of his arm).
"Cellar Door" on my inner wrist. (Summer of 2005. Way too little sleep, an unexpected tropical storm, and a midnight showing of Donnie Darko).
These are the ones I got done this year
The first one with the stars was in celebration of 4 years of being clean from cocaine. The middle star represents my daughter (I quit a $2000/month coke habit cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant and decided to not have an abortion I was scheduled for.) The four stars around it represent the years and I will be adding a fifth star in April.
The second and third photo is my sugar skull. To me it represents rebirth. I got out of an emotionally abusive relationship and got back with my first true love. The flowers and green vines, to me, represent growth after death.

Mine is on my lower back, right side. So I don't need to try and hide it... actually, most times, I forget I have it.
If I DID have visable tattoos, I'd totally rock 'em. I know there's a desire to hide them, but look at the picture of @FutureMrsMcK! She looks awesome. I love the look, and they're *YOU*, so I'm of the opinion you should show them off!
Let me backtrack. Unless you have some sort of obscene naked lady/man tattoo, a la ugliesttattoos.com. Then I'm okay with them being a bit more hidden. Grandma doesn't need to see that.
@Miss Tattoo: That's amazing. GREAT for you!! I absolutely love the meaning behind your tats. They are all beautiful. You will have to post your new star after your 5 year mark :)
To answer the question, I do not plan on hiding them. I would never cover them up if someone asked. I just wouldn't be in someone's wedding if it came down to that. All of my tattoos are a part of me and each one has a meaning and story about why I got it done. Some are deep and some are "Well...because I was bored one day I decided to [insert story]
@Miss Tattoo: I love your tattoos! I guess I should have known with your name you'd have some awesome ones.
@CaraMia10: Thank you! It's something I am really proud of. To come out of that lifestyle alive and somewhat normal is saying something. I think after the fifth star, I will continue to add a tiny tiny star around it every year.
@IlsaLund: Thanks! I'm hoping to have my left arm quarter sleeve done in time for the wedding! My mother had a heart attack when she heard I was planning on it, but she comes around after I get each one done. Here is one of my favorites. It's on my leg. And my first set of tattoo's were a pair of nautical stars (Nautical stars were said to help sailors find their way to the right path/course)

@Miss Tattoo: I love your stars!
@IlsaLund: Aw, thanks! I thought about covering them up with a shrug or (more likely) bolero of some sort. For a day or two. Then I snapped out of it and remembered that I love my tattoos, they're part of who I am, and I had no desire to cover them up because they might make someone uncomfortable or because the Wedding World says I should. I'm so glad I didn't cover them up.
I have plans for one more tattoo before we have kids--ironically, a honey bee (on my back right hip). DH's nickname for me is Honeybee (looong before I stumbled onto this site).
@Miss Tattoo: The stars are awesome, I love all the meaning behind each of your tattoos.
i have a unicorn tattoo (blue, not purple, despite my user name) behind my shoulder. and a little red heart on my hip (a la Rachel Green!).
my unicorn tattoo will show because i will have my hair up and strapless dress. of course, my heart tattoo will NOT be visible!
FYI: the second pic was cropped from a beach tanning pic, so what you see is my bathing suit bottom, not my underwear!
Im not planning on hiding mine either :) Aside from the one I posted at the start of this message, I have one on my shoulder that says "carpe diem" which really became more meaningful the past year.
Here's my tattoo (it's on my right shoulder blade) and the back view of my dress. So yes, my tattoo will be visible. :)
I actually don't have too many pictures of them. Weird! I have 7 total. Here is a picture of one (I have the same on my other arm.

Annnnnd you can sorta see my back peice (still in the works) It is a lotus flower with waves and bubbles. Sorry its in black and white :-P It is a color tattoo.

@Miss Tattoo: Love the skull tattoo! I've been wanting my ownself but haven't come across one that I like yet.
@ChantelleyLace: Your tattoo looks awesome!
I have 13 tattoos right now. I'm trying to pump myself up into getting a large back piece. All but 3 of my tattoos will be showing on my wedding day.I never even considered covering any of them. I know that some people at the wedding will shocked to see them all but they'll get over it :-)
@Cheeks11: SO drew the skull for me. He's the one drawing my quarter sleeve. Well, he will be once I get him his tablet for Christmas. ^_^ Before college, he use to work in a tattoo shop drawing up custom designs for people.
Oh my gosh, beautiful tattoos ladies!!
I have to take some pictures of mine. I have a tramp stamp and just got one on my ribs earlier this year. :)
Trying to upload some ics. Didnt work last night so let's try it again!

I have 3... 2 will show on the day of my wedding... the one on the back of my neck, and the one on my shoulder (both butterflies)... They are ME, so I am not going to try and hide them
I love all of the tattoos ladies.
Mine personally dont mean anything but I still love them. Here are my legs....
@missbubbles: Nice! Love the stars!!!! I'm glad to see so many brides not covering up their artwork. It makes me sad when a bride feels like she has to hide them on her wedding day because of pressure.
I have one on my ribs and one on my foot. I had the cross done when I was 18. My grandmother gave me the necklace when I was younger. I don't like to wear it because it's lost a few of the marcasites already. She has a tattoo herself, so it inspired me to get one done that included her:-). The butterfly on my foot was one I got with my two older sisters. They wanted to go get their first tattoos so I went with them! We decided on Butterflies-not very original but when the 3 of us girls can all agree to one thing, it's a miracle! I love how they came out and plan on wearing some great fun heels to show my butterfly off on our wedding day!(thats my chubby little foot in the middle)
I have 2 total. The first one I got in October of 2008 and the second I got in September of 2009. One is on my right shoulder/back and the other is above my left breast. I'm going to try to get the first one covered with makeup for the wedding.
@abbyful: Love yours! But I'm a bit biased towards bird tattoos
I don't have a photo of mine except for one while it was being done (which is NOT flattering lol), but I have two swallow silhouettes on the side of my mid-back. For now they represent DH and I, and as we have children I'll add an additional per child. Nothing fancy, but it suits me :)
This is the next tattoo I want to get, except without the glitter of course. My sister and I are both going to get sun tattoos together. I don't know where at on my body yet though. Very tricky to find a hidden place that doesn't feel trampy!
the photo was huge, so here's a link lol

I didn't have my tattoo before the wedding. Only a little bit would have shown I think, but I wouldn't have covered it. Actually, if I had it, I probably would have tried to pick a dress that showed it off more.
Here is my tattoo on my foot, I love it. I have another on my BUM, LMAO but I won't be posting that one!
I am working on my next tattoo, but I want it to be perfect since it will be more VISIBLE than the other 2.
Here is my one and only, it represents me and my 2 girls. It will be hidden on my wedding day, because of its location :)
Neither of mine will show, but if I had some on showing areas I would totally rock them. My FH is designing one for us right now. Neither of us like names on ourselves so he is placing baby feet over his heart and I am placing a spark somewhere (not sure yet), they are the things that remind us of each other.
Oh I love these! I don't have any, but I want one. I just can't find exactly what I want.
Mine is on the left (aka the permanent one)

I have two others... but they're on my hips so they weren't visible in my dress.
I got this done a few months ago! It was a very meaningful tattoo for me and the one I always wanted to get. Well, the opportunity arose and, voila! At first, I hid it from my bf when we were in our LDR. Eventually he had to see it and was upset that I didn't tell him. But once he saw the dragonfly he knew immediately what it meant and melted. His mother was another mother for me and my mentor. Before we started dating she and I had become close when I was in high school. The dragonfly represents her. She passed away in 2007 and her son and I re-connected this past April and now we're living together! hehe
I dont have a picture of mine with me but its on my left foot (because my son is left handed) and its something i drew myself. I cant draw at all it is something very simple a butterfly outline and instead of a body my son's name. I want to get more and hopefully soon me and my bff will get matching ones!
I just realised, I need to take some new shots of my tattoo, as I have had a LOT of work done to it since this pic. But, here ya go!
I was involved in a nasty car accident, that resulted in me having surgery on my back, and not working for 1.5+ years :( I'm half Burmese and wanted something to represent my Asian side. This tattoo is a Japanese inspired piece. In Japanese mythology, the Koi fish (which represents me before the accident) has to swim up river, against the current and jump through a ring of fire (which is above the lotus flower) to become a dragon (me now). It's been 11 or so hours in the making, and I loooooove it!!! Can't wait to finish it, so I can get going on the next one!
Wow, ladies! I love admiring tats! I don't have any of my own, although I have tons of ideas of what I would get if I ever got one.
Mine's on the back of my neck and I wore my hair down, so I had to ask the photographer specifically to take a picture of it. One of my husband's tattoos is at the bottom of the picture, but you can't see it very well.
