*yay* congrats- my FI got his refund and bought the ring the very next day and proposed that night- hope it happens quickly for you too now that he will have the money.
@armychica06: I remembered your posts! I was always so bummed thinking we wouldn't be getting anything, that's why we're both so excited! It's so unexpected!
aw, good luck!!
I remember feeling this way this time last year. FI was waiting on the first time home owners tax credit to put toward the ring fund. Very exciting time :) Keep us updated!
Ahhhh!
I know the feeling!
now that we've settled on moissanite J doesn't need to save up for a ring. He supported himself just fine before I moved in with him and I give him around $500 a month for rent and bills. All of that is just extra cash. It's exciting to know that it really could be anytime! Just gotta wait for him to actually do it!
As far as a tax return, erm... I know nothing of the sort regarding J.
Yay! I got my tax return and put it in an account for the wedding. :-(
@Miss Tattoo: Sad! That's what we did with both of ours last year. Every single penny! This year we are paying off my car, and buying DH a new one. So it is pretty much gone too, LOL.
@Tunacupcakes: That's great! Any day now..
@laktolkr, @Lindsay12.31.2010, @Miss Tattoo: Thanks girls!! Those all sound like fun things to spend your returns on also!
@kirabee: Nice!
We're getting ours done on Monday. I'm a little nervous about the joint return, have no idea how it'll turn out.
My SO got a ton back and yet I sit here ringless. Ugh... lol.
We are getting back our 8k homeowners credit. I can't wait to put it in the bank and start rebuilding our savings account.
@Impatiently waiting: Well hopefully a proposal is in your near future then!
@meliss: Thanks Meliss! Ours (lol, okay techincally "his") won't be here for a few weeks, but good luck with yours!
@CurlyDreamer: He's probably waiting for the right moment, eh? He'll figure it out soon.
@roxy821: Nice! I'm so jealous of everyone who were able to take advantage of the home-buyers' credit, such a great incentive!
I considered that his tax return might be used for what I truly want, but it doesn't appear to be so. He plunked it in the bank, told me what he got ($1300!) and that was the end of it. I'm actually near tears right now.
@sherryberry: Awwww *hugs* - if it is sitting in the bank, you never know- it can always come out later. He could also be saving up that money to buy a more expensive ring. I say the money in the account is a GOOD thing- it is a starting point. Please don't feel too down.
I think movies have ruined my brain. I KNOW he's practical and is not the type of person to get money and immediately spend it, but just once, it would be nice if he completely surprised me, if he said that he loves me so much and just couldn't wait one more second to be engaged to me. It's not even the wedding I care about, it's being a legal family with the guy I love. i hate that waiting makes me so miserable.
I know for a fact that SO is putting his toward a ring. He finished his taxes last week, but I don't know how much he had saved from before, so I'm still not sure how long I have left to wait! He said he has a timeline, I just wish I knew what it was!
I also know for certain that all of his tax return is going towards an engagement ring, a moissanite :). His sister is getting married in May and I have been told I will definitely be engaged by then, but I just hope he really understands that he should do it well before her wedding as to not steal her thunder... I'm hoping in march!

So I know a bunch of waiting bees have mentioned hoping that their partners' tax returns will go toward their ring funds, but I wasn't expecting much. My boyfriend only worked for about three months in 2010. BUT now that he has filed, he found out that apparently he will be getting somewhere around $1700 back from taxes paid on his college scholarship. We're both so excited!!
Are you experiencing tax return excitement??
