@CurlyDreamer: I feel for you--I think we've been on these waiting boards for close to the same amount of time and I think we're in similar positions now. (Although I have not been as quiet. Oops!)
I too am getting kind of antsy. We don't get tax returns but I know he has enough cash for a ring, and he set up a "secret" dinner on Feb 11. He invited me, but won't tell me where we're going. I (of course) immediately started going into overdrive thinking maybe this was it because he NEVER sets up "secret" dinners.
But then later he told me it was for Valentine's day. I'm trying not to be dissapointed because it's still sweet he's doing this--he usually just gets me flowers. But...it's the time of year for expectations even if you tell yourself not too. Just like the winter holidays.
I'll have my fingers crossed for you. :)
Hopefully even though you haven't been talking about it a lot he gets the hint!
@Taylor4: I am dealing with something similar! My bf planned a "weekend getaway" for January 30...very romantic place that we only usually go for our anniversary. Of course I immediately wondered if this was it and got super excited. Now it seems this is for our Valentines celebration...hm :( I feel kinda bad that I got a bit bummed out but I couldn't help it! It's a great Valentines celebration but it would be even better with a ring ;)
I know how you ladies all feel- I am completely in the same boat- I hope our men surprise us!!!

I haven't been on the waiting board in a bit. Last year around this time, I hoped for a diamond ring when SO got his tax return. I got one too... just not kind I wanted. It was an "i love you" gift but NOT an engagement ring.
Still, this year, I can't help but slightly hope that with some of the tax money SO will actually get an engagement ring this year. I know that he will be able to afford it without having to scrimp and save. Knowing that makes it even harder not to hope that an engagement will happen soon, you know?
We haven't really discussed marriages or proposals in a really long time. I'd kind of just accepted that it would happen when it did, but now, knowing how much he is expecting and that Valentine's Day is soon... ugh. I thought I was over this, but I guess not.
