    Hey Bees.
Maybe a bit of a specific question, but I ordered my ring from MoissaniteCo, so it's coming from America to the UK. Now they do say that they mark it as costume jewellery worth less than $100 to deter thiefs, but I was wondering, will we maybe have to pay VAT or import tax to get it?
Never factored than in to costs! Any ideas bees? I've not had much luck googling.
    Thanks in advance!

I bought my ring from MCo and I'm in Australia. I didn't pay any import tax or anything. And it ships through fedex so it would depend on the max amount cost of the item is when they charge you. Mine was up to $250. If over that they charge. Don't know how much though. But since they put $100 on the invoice I was not charged. I was happy about that. Hope that helps.

You will need to pay VAT of 20% (uk VAT) of the purchase value and an import fee but that is normally less than £50 if I remeber correctly. If you look at HM Revenue & Customs wedsite it has all in infor you need.

    Best of luck :-)

they  probably wont stop it coming through as it has been marked as costume jewellery  for the value of $100.....which is £75.  if they dont stop it,  then dont offer to pay it obviously.  but if they do stop it,  then you wont pay more than 20%  of that anyway.......20%  of £75  is only  £15  anyway/
