Ok, I’m the MOH and I’m hosting the bridal shower for my bestie. The theme is polka dot tea party, and the gift theme is “hobby & activity”. Basically the gifts will all be centered around different hobbies and activities the bride and groom do together or separately.
All shower details go through the bride first. To make sure she’s happy with it and she’s on board and aware of what’s going on. I know, I know… more decisions for her to make. But mainly it goes like this… “So, what do you think about this?” “Love it.” “ok, done. ordered. bam”… Easy bride. yeah! (((-;
Everything is done or scheduled. The invites are bought, the decor is done, food is decided, and the venue is booked. I need help with the games and I’m kind of concentrating on the order of events.
The venue is inside (a local coffee house) and it’s a room fit for 40. 35 individuals, including the bride are attending. The colors are blue, purple and white & polka dots. The Shower is in late August, which is great it’s inside. Why? Because it’ll be 100 degrees outside… BLAH!
I have a few games in mind. Though some have been done to death, I love them! I put a star next to my favorites.
*1. The toilet paper wedding dress. Where a team of 2/3 is given a roll of TP and they have to design a wedding dress. Best dress, chosen by the bride, wins.
*2. The “love messages” activity. Just read this one and love it! Write things the groom loves about her to pieces of paper and put them on flowers/balloons and have the bride read them at the end. OR (My favorite) I like the idea of taking these ideas and posting them on the walls so that the guests can read them at their leisure. OR put a few at each table the guests read out loud throughout the shower.
*3. The gift timer game. As the bride opens gifts, I set a timer for 3/5/10 minutes (which ever) and whoevers gift she is opening at the time the buzzer goes off gets a prize.
*4. The wedding cake game. Give each table a pound cake and cake supplies. They have 10 minutes to make a wedding cake. Best cake, chosen by the bride, wins!
*5. The gift comment activity. Just found this too! While the gifts are being opened, someone will record all the things she says. “it’s too cute”, “omg! How pretty”, “thank you, your so amazing!” etc. at the closing of the bridal shower, I read all the (carefully chosen) things she said as, “things the bride will say on her wedding night”,
6. The know your man game. This is bakerellas. Have 10-20 questions the groom answers ahead of time and ask them to your bride. If she gets one wrong she has to eat a large gum ball, marshmallow, etc in her mouth and continue the game. Making sure to set her up for a few silly failures. Like a bridal chubby bunny. Lol
7. The hot ballon game. This was another bee shower. Put hot pictures of men in each balloon at the party. And one will have the groom. The person who pops their balloon with the groomy wins! would be hard with 35 guests, unless a few people were picked?
*8. The memory activity. Everyone writes down there favorite memory with the bride. Then they are all put in a box and given to the bride as a lovely keepsake.
9. The longest marriage. The individual with the longest marriage gets a prize.
Ok… So… Which games are your favorite!? And do you have any other advice for games/activities for bridal showers or tea party showers specifically? Any advice for keeping the party rolling smoothly? And lastly, what kind of prizes did you buy?
Shout out to the Bee’s who posted some of these creative games! (-:
