As long as people aren’t required to wear hats, I like it.

I love everything but the hats. I swore the day I got out of the military (26 years) I would never wear a hat again. The rest of it? Sounds lovely….well, the gloves are a bit iffy, but the tea party idea sounds great.
Thinking about the gloves – where would your guests have to go to buy gloves appropriate for a tea party. That would an expense for them and something I am sure they wouldn’t wear again. Maybe give that some thought?

I think it’s a great idea. I hosted a tea party bridal shower. However it was at hotel. So they already had cute plates and cups, I just bought centerpieces for the tables. That being said if someone else or your Mom is planning it I think it’s stepping on their toes to insist on a particular theme, even though hosted in your honor.

This is a seriously brilliant idea. I love the whole old-fashioned tea party thing and think that this would make a fantastic theme for a bridal shower. Also, I often hosted afternoon teas for the ladies in my church and didn’t have enough teacups. I would just ask everyone to bring their favorite cup and saucer along. It wound up being a huge conversation starter as many women loved to bring their china tea cups and talk about its history (whether they inherited it from their grandmother or found it at a yard sale or got it as a wedding present). I would of course have extras for those that didn’t own teacups, but I found that this worked really well.
