I don't think either is very good for you. Tea has less caffeine if you're worried about that.
I think it depends on what types of benefits you're looking for; there are a lot of naturally caffeine-free teas with great benefits depending on your symptoms (like herbal teas for nausea, sleeplessness, colds, etc...). On the other hand, coffee has it's own health benefits if you're constipated or having an asthma attack. :) I drink both, but I generally don't have much of a reaction to caffeine anymore.
@moderndaisy: I love, love tea. I drink white, green, and black all of the time. I learned over time that tea gave me less caffeine withdrawl headaches. It's very good for you in general. I've noticed my health has improved greatly over the years that I've mainly become a tea drinker. Coffee is murder on my stomach, but tea isn't. Tea all the way here.
I am obsessed with tea. I do drink coffee, one cup a day, and then drink hot tea and water the rest of the day. I mainly drink green tea and white tea as those are supposed to be the "best" for you. There are a lot of conflicting reports about supposed health benefits and such, but I drink it anyway because I like it! Trader Joe's has good teas and so does Teavana. I drink a lot of loose tea, and they seem to be the best.
I voted coffee, which I prefer. But the poll had me saying different answers for each question, so it was a bit confusing. :)
I used to be a big black tea drinker until it started giving me horrible stomach aches. I hated coffee, but gradually (starting w/ coffee ice cream!) I grew to love it. Coffee doesn't upset my stomach (weird, I know) like tea did, but I notice the caffeine a lot more, especially when I first made the switch.
Both drinks have positives. Green tea, we're all aware of the health benefits. Recent studies have shown that 1-2 cups (coffee cups-6 oz max) of coffee a day is beneficial, especially for women. Coffee has antioxidants.
I dont know for sure, but I think some teas can be the same caffeine-wise, so choose wisely! :) However, I think it is tea for the win if you choose one with little caffeine.
I love them both and consume equal amounts of both!
I drink way more tea and I believe that tea is better for you. As long as you don't add a lot of sugar or milk to it at least!
ETA: Coffee upsets my stomach so much. So that's probably part of the reason why I think tea is better for you! Also, tea doesn't stain my teeth as much!
@PitBulLover: interesting, also, if I have an empty stomach, black teas make me feel really nauseous, wheras coffee does not. so in the morning before breakfast, I prefer coffee.
from what I've read, according to studies and such, overall, tea is better for you. but I also believe the doctors who say coffee is not bad for you as long as you use it in moderation.
Depends. In moderate quantities coffee does have benefits, but gallon for gallon, herbal green tea is better.
I can drink coffee any time of day, but can only drink tea at night, it knocks me out :-)
I prefer coffee, but tea is probably much better for you.
Both have health benefits; green tea more than coffee. I switch it up and drink both.
I have a coffee addiction. I think tea is better for you though. I don't know that tea is good for you. It's just the lesser of two evils.
I used to drinks a lot of coffee, about 2 litres a day or more. I also added energy drinks and alcohol. I noticed I was getting jittery after I had my first cup of coffee in the morning, and hated it. Cut out the coffee completely, the energy drinks, the liquor.. even black tea. From one day to another.
Now I drink maybe 1 cup of green tea a day, and sometimes decaf coffee or hot chocolate. Most of the time I drink peppermint tea or fruit teas and lots of water. I feel much better :)
I think neither coffee nor tea is "bad", it's just how much you drink of it. I knew someone who got diarrhea after she had more than 1 cup of tea, but never had problems with coffee.. just listen to your body :)
I love tea. hate coffee. (unless its from europe, they KNOW how to make their coffee there!) tea can have many effects depending on which you choose. I can't handle caffine so i stick to herbal tea which are naturally caffine free. green tea ( has caffine) has great antioxidants. There is a tea that gives me a laxative effect too BAD! sheesh I stopped drinking it! I forget what kind it was. Chamomille is calming, mint is good for your digestive system calming a upset tummy, lemon tea with honey is AMAZING for a sore throat, rasberry tea is great for pregancy nasea etc etc.
i love tea.
tea is better for you in alot of ways as long as you dont load it up with tons of sugar, I try to always use a little honey in my tea. Tea is also better on your stomach. I like coffee but had to stop drinking it so much because it was causing my acid reflux to flair up. There are so many teas out there, teas to help you sleep, peppermint tea for nausea, all kinds of flavors. If your not sure about the caffeine you can always google it because each tea is different. I think most black tea has more caffeine than green tea but less than coffee (I am not sure about white tea but I think its less than green tea). If you drink herbal tea and have food allergies always check the label first. I had a cup once without looking to see what was in it and had an allergic reaction
I love tea. I'll drink coffee, but I need to have a truckload of tea & sugar in there, which kind of negates any good effects it might have.
They say that coffee is good for you in small quantities (8oz per day), or huge quantities (I can't remember the exact number, but it was multiple mugs per day).
I've never heard of tea being bad in any amount, and I've heard a lot of good things about green tea especially.
I think tea is better for you. I switched to tea (I like Masal Chai with vanilla soymilk or maple syrup and milk). I think it gives you less of a rush-then-crash. Now I drink decaf tea.
Black and green tea will stain your teeth, but green tea will stain less and also has the added benefit of fluoride in it. Coffee will also stain them (as will wine), but if you swish water in your mouth after drinking any of them and floss daily, you can greatly reduce the staining effects. Drinking them through a straw can also help.
I think its a matter of picking your poison.
I <3 both. I have heard that coffee is good for your heart and can reduce Type 2 diabetes and dementia.
I think the Starbucks-type coffee drinks or sugary tea drinks aren't that great for you because they're loaded with calories, sugar, etc.
Wiki has a nice big article on the health benefits of tea:

...altho I'm a big coffee drinker. DH loves his tea!
For me? Tea is definitely better. I hate coffe and just the smell of it makes me feel naseous. If something makes you feel like vomiting it probably isn't all that good for you.
@smyley: Green tea is really good for your gums and dental health in general.

I love tea. I hate coffee. Tea tastes good and coffee tastes horrible to me though I like the smell of both. I drink pretty much any kind of tea; black, green, herbal, etc.
EDIT: I think tea is healthier especially green and white teas.
I drink coffee occasionally, but I still love it. I have some health issues and know that coffee causes some GI problems for me. Some mornings I have Mr Holly make coffee and I just love to smell it (which is probably a little crazy - but he'll drink the coffee anyway). I do love tea though - a whole two shelves are dedicated to tea in one of the cupboards adn I could easily find more. I love all types of tea, but lately have been very into white teas (a peach one is a recent find) and rooibos.
I voted coffee, though truth be told I drink both. I agree with other posters that coffee is much harder on my stomach than tea. And while I'll drink coffee for a boost, or a headache, any type of stomach or throat irritation, I'll drink tea for the calming effects.

Beekeeper
Which one do you drink and which one do you think is better for you health-wise and why?
I have been drinking coffee since I was 16 and about a month ago switched to tea. I started out with black tea, now I drink green tea. I honestly haven't noticed any difference as far as how I feel - not even caffeine headaches.
I don't miss coffee, but I am wondering which one is actually better for you? I have heard conflicting things about this so I am curious what the bees think!
