I usually wear cute flats from Target (or somewhere similar) when I teach. However, by the end of the day my feet are usually killing me. Does anyone have any recommendations for shoes that are little more comfortable but are still fashionable?

Hi there! I really love to wear Bjorn or Clarks brand shoes. I realize they are a lot more pricey than shoes from Target, but the comfort level is incredible. You can find them online, at major department stores, and occasionally at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. ~ Have a great school year!!

Flip flops are the most comfy shoe ever! It’s literally all I wear between April and October!

@melisslp: Thank you! I will check them out 🙂
You have a wonderful school year as well!

@wwbga: I wear flip flops too! Tevas whenever it’s warm enough, and then I switch to Toms. I have a few pairs of Toms slip-ons and one pair of botas, which I wear all winter. They’ve got enough arch support for me and they’re super comfy.
ETA: I forgot, on the days I want to look nice, I wear Me Too flats. They’re $50 at DSW and last FOREVER and they’re so soft and comfy. I have bunions (yuck) and they’re the only dressy shoe I’m comfortable in. I own them in two colors!

I wear flip flops/sandals…and then the rest of the year I wear Danskos. I know they’re not “cute” or whatever, but they are super comfortable.

diana ferari – supersoft ballet flats. Super comfy!

Get some good insoles! I really like just the Target brand Dr. Scholl’s gel knock offs that you cut to fit in your shoes.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I will start looking for these brands soon!

I’m always in heels. Just used to it.

I used to wear flip flops, but this year, my school district changed the dress code and they aren’t allowed. I am VERY upset about this because I’ve spent a lot of money on Naturalizer, Clarks, and Merrill flats and I seriously can’t teach an entire day in them! Of all the things for a district to legislate, why did it have to be my comfy shoes that let me move around all day?

I teach in a university, so I have to look quite professional while standing in my shoes, so I rely on Cole Hann shoes with Nike soles. They are expensive, but you can often find them for way cheap on 6pm.com. I certainly can’t afford to pay retail.

@RahlyRah: I’ve suggested this to so many people! My retail coworkers used to ask me how I could stand for hours and hours, what kind of shoes do I wear, etc. and I just told them I get insoles and move them around from pair to pair. Saves me having to go buy new shoes that are probably hideous because I can’t wear sandals somewhere.
