zOMG.
These are so awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product.
@amnystik: Thanks! Very labour intensive but hopefully worth it in the end.
@Prewitt: Shades of aqua :)
I will hopefully be able to post more pictures as I make progress. Next up, figuring out how to stamp them :)
@MrsSl82be: My initial plan was to emboss them but I got nervous about the heat from the gun possibly warping the bookcloth and also I think it might be too late to emboss now becaus the heat could compromise the integrity of teh glue. Not sure, but we will see how it goes. Great idea though!
@Aubergold: Thanks! I'm basically doing everything I can to justify my gocco purchase :)
I am making 80 in total. I am expecting 120 guests but went with 80 so I have a few left over as keepsakes and to send to our grandparents who can't make it.

I was inspired by Mrs Tartlet and a hive member vaness13181 to DIY booklets for my programs However, I wanted to try something different from what they did. I wanted to gocco our details onto the fabric and possibly stamp it before making the book cover. They aren't finished yet and are still very much a work in progress, but I am so excited by how it is going that I had to share!
My camera is broken, so I only have crappy cellphone pics for you which will have to do. Unfortunately the true colour of the programs don't always show in teh pictures, they are actually teal and gold.
I started off with a piece of book board which I went on to cut into four
this is the book board cut to size
then i cut the bookcloth to my desired size (i had an enormous roll which I bought from a bookbinding store)
then i ruled some guidelines on the inside of the book to show were to glue the bookboard
then I flipped teh bookcloth over and goccoed our program cover with gold ink (i will go back and stamp when I'm done). This was the trickiest part of the process because I essentially had to guess where to place the gocco screen most of the time which meant sometimes my text was off centre.
then i glued the board to the bookcloth, cut the corners at 45 degree angles and glued them all down and smoothed everything out with a bone folder.
this is what the flip side looked like after that process
then I cut out and glued in a liner from some paper i had left over from making our envelope liners for our invitations (this ties all our stationary together nicely).
This is what teh program looks like right now. I'm planning on stamping the top with a stamp that featured in our invitations in gld ink.
I haven't made the inside pages yet, but am planning on sewing them in with gold linen thread.
