I have a full length lovely (expensive) lace gown for my big day. I just love lace, and often find that I hate the satin dresses I see Bridesmaids in…so I’m considering that everyone wear different teal lace dresses of their own choosing. That way everyone can decide their own budget and have something they’re happy to wear over and over.
What does everyone think of that?
Some examples. Although if only one person wear the full length one iit should be MOH

I voted that they should be the same but only because I’d say the colours would beslightly different if they’re different. I love the first one

I’m not a huge fan of satin either, and am obsessed with lace. I was in a wedding dress store this weekend, and i looked at some of their bridesmaids dresses, and even the $275 satin dresses looked cheap to me. I love this idea, but I wouldn’t put anyone in a full length lace gown. That’s going to compete too much with your full length lace gown.

I love lace and will be wearing a full length lace gown for my wedding as well. That said, I think everyone in lace, especially different lace, might be too much. I think your girls should either be in all the same lace or if they want to wear different styles, I would put the girls in an alternate fabric like chiffon.

I think lace is okay. It wouldn’t be my choice, but you should do what is right for you. However, I would urge you to do all the same dress. Teals can be hard to match. I think if you do a dress of their choosing in teal, you could end up with a mess that will be in every picture. If someone is worried about the price, maybe you could volunteer to pay for a portion.

Heads up: There are some GREAT teal lace dresses at H&M right now…i’d get down there stat to grab them if this is what you want to do.

love teal, love lace. they should all be the same shade of teal, though.

“Teal lace” sounds ugly, but it LOOKS pretty on these dresses! I think it would be best to have them matching, though, otherwise different styles, colors, and lace patterns could be too much.

I think this is a lovely idea and will look cohesive without being too matchy matchy. I would just make sure they show you before they commit to buying a dress so you can have the final say.

I love differing dresses as long as they have the exact same color and the same basic rules ie fabric and length

I love the first two dresses! I also like it when brides allow for different dresses provided there is some sort of running theme between everything.
I was wondering if you could tell me where you can purchase the first dress.

Please don’t put them in a full length lace dress unless you are buying them! The shorter ones are super cool but can also be used again. I love love love lace and it is so sexy right now. A lace cocktail dress is an under 30 must- so pick a blue that suits them and run with it!

I like the third and fourth dresses the best. I think that this combination would be hard to do mis-match so all matching might be best. And I think that the floor length dress is a little awkward, I’d keep it cocktail length.

As long as you realize they will all turn out different shades, you should be fine. I also remember reading a post a few days ago about a Bee who gave free reign and then all BMs but one picked the same dress, creating an awkward situation for the odd one out. I feel as though there are not a TON of teal lace dresses out there so there’s a possibility that could come up if your BMs have similar shopping hangouts/budgets/styles.
I totally agree with you about satin bridesmaids dresses — I loved satin on my wedding dress but DID NOT want it for my bridesmaids at all.

I love lace, but you may want to seriously consider whether you want your BMs to have a look that similar to your own. Usually, you want some minor coordinating factors so everything goest together, but you don’t want to mimic dress features outright. It might be overwhelming and take away from the beauty of your lace if everyone is in lace.
If you still do lace, I’d put everyone in the same dress.
ETA: there are tons of fabrics other than satin for BMs dresses.
