Does anyone have any suggestions on how to plan a wedding on one of the tiniest budgets in the world? Our budget is almost nonexistent, all of the people that promised to help are backing out and now we have to pay for this thing alone. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

When you say teeny tiny can you give us a ballpark of what you mean?  Lots and lots of hive members have planned weddings on less than $5000, and there is a great wedding blog about a woman who planned her wedding on $2000.  It can be done and done beautifullly!

we also had a non existant budget.  We had our wedding and it turned out prity nice on about $1000.  Maybe post what your wedding ideas are.... Like place style, number of people, etc. I would love to see what you want and see if we can help with ideas:)

Yeah whats the range of your budget? Try not to stress too much. You can always postpone your wedding date to save money on your own for it. Or you can do a lot of things DIY. Its hard sometimes because you see so much "wedding porn" but you just have to remember that no matter what your day will be beautiful and special in its own way! I had to stop worrying what other people will think about my wedding and just start to do what makes me happy!

My friend had a wedding costing 700 dollars.

The had a backyard wedding, she found the cutest white knee length dress for 70 dollars. Asked people to bring a plate and BYO, afternoon wedding and they turned into a cosy family dinner style event. The most expensive cost she said was the celebrant.

It was one of the best weddings EVER! there theme was lemon and lime and she used those lemons and lime as the centrepieces in a plain clear vases.

They had the cake as a big slab cake, nicely done tho. And we went and got her flowers from the local markets in the morning of the wedding. And they had a family friend with a creative eye take the photos.

    You can do it!

We started with a budget of $5,000 and are having a completely traditional wedding with a sit down meal in a ballroom and all.  We've had to increase our budget to $6500, but that's still pretty meager in the wedding world.

We had a budget of $5k and came in under, and it was gorgeous! It can be done (and honestly, it could have been done for less had I not gotten so panicky and started just throwing more things in).

FH is not concerned at all concerned with our wedding.... we just dont have the same importances... He wants good food and a wonderful honeymoon ... so he is spending $5k on the honeymoon (it was money he got from a car accident) so its all him and we are only looking to have a budget of about $2k or less for our wedding we have no more saved for it it is just whatever we can come out of pocket with between now and then

I too have a tiny budget.  One area where I'll be saving a ton of money is on a wedding dress.  I do wish I wasn't restricted but it's just the reality of it.  I got my BCBG dress for about $80 at Nordstrom rack.  I think it's pretty and you just can't beat that price.  Another way we are planning to save money is by having a laid back bbq that can be semi potluck.  I'm also sure that I won't be able to purchase bridesmaid dresses (unless I can find some good deals) so I was also thinking about just asking them to wear a certain color dress.  Good luck with the planning.  A wedding is a celebration of the love between two people, no matter what the cost! :)

I started out planning a pretty big wedding which would cost 5K-8K but am now rethinking it. My family (about 35 people) is planning a 4 day cruise this August and I starting playing around with the idea of getting married on this cruise since most of my family will be there. I found out I can get married in Key West for less than $300! So i would only have to pay for cute little dress, the cruise, and about $260 for the ceremony. Flowers are included in the ceremony price and i have a photographer in my family. Basically i would just have to make sure FH's family can go. It may be the cheapest wedding ever, but im loving the idea more and more!!

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'm so so so so sorry for not writing back sooner. It was my first time posting and I thought I'd be notified by email when someone responded. Anyway my parents are giving us $3,000. His parents say that they'll pay for the people on their side of the families meals but I don't think they will. I will definitely be looking into the suggestions.
