I’d really like to whiten my teeth pre-wedding. However, I’m not sure if having it professionally done is in the budget.
So, anyone have any OTC product recommendations? Apparently Sephora has a newish product out called “GLO” that has good reviews.
Which products have you tried and love? Hate? Didn’t work?
Thanks in advance!

OMGMrsW2B: My mother works for one of the best dentists in Manhattan and told me that if I was going to do teeth whitening OTC the product they recommend are the Crest Whitening Strips.
They have very good reviews. I havent tried them myself bc I had mine professionally done.

Daizy914: Which specific Crest whitening strips? Crest makes a few different kinds.

I used to use 14-day Crest White Strips (back when there was only one kind), but now I just use the Wal-Mart brand (I think the brand is Equate, they’re called wraps, not strips, and I believe these ones are 7-day X-treme??). They’re $14.97 and I use them every 12-18 months. When I needed a crown on one of my teeth, the dentist mentioned that my teeth were very white and she had to use a shade of white that they don’t use much. Granted, I’ve been whitening my teeth since I was 18, and I’m 25 now.

Daizy914: I asked my dentist about professional whitening, and he recommended the same!

Kacie209: I use the mack-daddy Crest 3D White Luxe Whitestrips and swear by them (any of the whitestrips really). They fit my teeth perfectly and stay on, it’s only 30 minutes every 3 months. I do experience some sensitivity for the next few days but once I brush with sensodyne toothpaste, it goes away. I’ve used all of the different whitestrips and it just depends on what you are looking for….once a day for 2 weeks? once every 3 months? strips that you keep on for 2 hours?
Also..if you sign up for the Crest or Proctor&Gamble email newsletters, they email you lots of coupons that might help with the $55 sticker shock.

I did Crest Whitening strips (just their basic/cheapest type at walgreens), and they worked pretty good. However, my husband’s dentist gave him some special kind of whitening toothpaste you can only get from the dentist and the results were dramatic. His teeth were always a slightly yellowish natural color, but suddenly they were BRIGHT white

wlphilli: Thanks! I was asking cos my wedding is in 3 weeks (from today – eek!) and if FI and I do a 2-week thing… we’ll need to buy something sooner than later, and just wasn’t sure which one out of the Crest brands to get – especially with the price.
I’ll have to sign up for thos emails today!

Maybe you can look for whitening deals on Groupon. I’m not forking over $500+ for whiter teeth either, but sometimes you can get it 50-75% off at a local dentist’s office on Groupn or Living Social.

I have just started using this product, but I noticed results right away! It’s called “Twilight Teeth” and you can find it on Amazon. I work in a tanning salon and we sell it here, but it was about half the price online!
It is similar to the process used in the dentist office because it uses UV light to activate the whitening chemical you apply to your teeth. It is designed to be used in a tanning bed because the UV light is pretty strong, but it does come with a mini light in the box for you to use at home if tanning is not your thing! 🙂
I also use the Crest 3D White “Luxe” along with the mouthwash and it really helps! I am a big coffee drinker so it really helps. http://www.twilightteeth.com/

There are TONS of teeth whitening Groupons! I’ve done a few, and basically I went to a kiosk in the middle of a mall and sat under a UV light for 30 minutes. I think the whitestrips were a more dramatic transformation to be honest. Definitely get the Crest whitening mouthwash and toothpaste to help even more!
