    My wedding has not passed yet, but our cake is 8 tiers, all different flavors with different fillings [carrot, red velvet, french vanilla, vanilla, chocolate, dark chocolate and each one has a different filling].

    Total it is $462 with delivery and set up, however I did not go through a standard bakery, I went with a lady who bakes cakes out of her home.

    Her cakes may not be extremely professional looking, but we didn’t want to drop a TON of cake. We just wanted a pretty, delicious cake. Here is an example of the work she does :

    The cake we got is supposed to server like 300 and some guests. We are having 60, at most but we plan to take the top tier home, and we wanted to give guests an actual slice of cake, not just a 1×2 piece. Anything left over will be boxed up and taken home by guests and us.

    MrsBuesleBee:  a small, 6 inch cutting cake well be the one guests see. Banana cake, one of two requirements that FI have me about the whole wedding. We will serve from two sheet cakes, banana and vanilla. Total is somewhere around $260 if I remember right.

    Our cake was three-tiered. Vanilla with amaretto icing – covered in the most delicious fondant we’d ever tasted. We were literaly arguing over who would eat it. It was $350 and that price included set up and delivery. We also had pre-sliced wedges as favors for each guest in a personalized box. We had a small wedding with 42 guests and probably had enough ake for 50.

    MrsBuesleBee:  I got married in Fiji, so i don’t know how helpful this post is to you but here are the specifics.

    Cost: $750FJD equivalent to roughly $400USD

    Tiers: 4

    Flavours: (Largest tier to smallest tier) Fresh Banana, Golden Fruit Cake, Vanilla, Chocoalte

    Icing: Butter cream

    Delivery Cost: $90FJD roughly equivalent to $48USD.

    My cake was pretty blah. I didn’t really like it but it was included in our DW package so whatever I guess.  It was chocolate with white icing I think. I tried to jazz it up with a sparkly cake topper but it just didn’t work cause it was so small.  Our wedding was only 30 people so it was kind of pointless to do a big fancy cake. On a side note, I never even ate a piece of my cake and the wedding coordinator swore up and down she would have a portion of it sent up to our rooms so that we could eat it at night alone together (because we obviously couldn’t take it home on the plane to save for our anniversary) but it never came.  I was so upset 🙁

    Our cake cost $200 for 40 people. It’s 3 square tiers with pale pink buttercream frosting. The flavors are vanilla with fresh strawberries, chocolate with chocolate mousse and carrot cake with cream cheese. Our baker does gorgeous work, I can’t wait to see it next week!

    $450 for 2 tiers, enough for 125 people. 

    I chose a really simple cake- like this but with real flowers. 

    inside is almond cake with raspberry filling 

    & marble cake with chocolate ganache

    MrsBuesleBee:  I would think so. If you have a big guest list I’m sure you’ll need more tiers. 

    or you could get 2 tiers & have extra sheet cakes in the back (way cheaper). No one would know! 

    I also chose a simple design because I hate fondant, so I chose a design that could be done with buttercream icing

    Jee I guess I am severely overestimating how much it would be for our 170 guests. I thought it would be around 2k 

    0 proposals as of now, but since everything in the DMV area is SO damn expensive, I figured 2k was the norm

    Ours is more on the expensive side, although cake prices in Australia seem to be more expensive. 

    Ours is three tiers to serve 120 dessert sized pieces (we’re serving our cake as dessert so the pieces will be larger). Flavours are white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate mud. We’re paying $700.

    My partner seems to hate all wedding cakes – we literally looked at over 200 before we could both agree on one. We’re having something similar to this but in our colours (bright purple and silver).
