as part of an overly complicated favor, i am knitting 80 tiny hearts. i’m at 78 now. (knitters, i am doing them on 3s using cascade 220 sport. the pattern is cool; it’s a figure-8 cast on, then increases, then you split off the halves and do them, finishing each one with three kitchener stitches).

the picture is of some i made for a regional burning man event. the ones i am making now are using variegated yarn.

I just tacked ribbons onto mason jars and arranged flowers. Also doing the placecards (already cut up the pieces), wrote numbers on our table numbers jar, and scribbled over this pig chalkboard. Everything seems to be too simple to really call DIY. Except for the flowers. Oh the blasted flowers with their wired stems!! Hurt my hands cutting them and stabbed myself, too.

missjoy0819 :  No! We enjoy the NCAA bracket, and his Dad is SUPER Into it (and thus he will like it)… but I’m doing a nod to the tv show HIMYM.

I’ve got:

Red Shoes (because I think cowgirl boots and dresses are tacky)

Yellow Umbrella (for the one) – and yes I’m hoping it will rain.

The Bracket (because it’s fun to list everyone – and it fits with the theme)

Pineapples (it’s actually a symbol of welcome, as explained in the “pineapple mystery solved” clip that was removed from the final season, and we’ve taken a few trips to Maui, and see more in our future) – Maybe pineapple boutonnieres.

Possibly for our Chairs “I would walk 500 Miles” “and I would walk 500 more” signs for the back.

A few quotes from the show will be incorporated somehow – “Challenge Accepted!” “In the end, all we can do is promise to love each other with everything we’ve got. Because Love is the Best thing we do” (which I kid you not, tears me up every time I read it.) And a few others.

Blue and gold theme – we’re not doing the blue french horn, as that seems a little too much of a bad omen – but my guy’s favorite color is blue.

There are a few other random things, maybe a few pieces of music from the show. My aim is to do not much more because I want it to be classy, and the friends who watch it will get our meaning.

missjoy0819 :  Of course. It’s funny, once I struck up the idea. the pieces have just folded together. I still have until June 2018 to pull it all together, but hoping it will be gorgeous.

missjoy0819 :  So… I kind of had put the idea of the Blue french horn off of my list of must haves. Every time I went to eBay looking, or other places,  they were just toooo expensive. Imagine my surprise when I found one for $40 on facebook classifieds yesterday. I’m so excited! I may just end up polishing it up, and not having it dipped for the blue, and use it in a centerpiece. I pick it up today!

So I had a lot of free time at work which led to an increase in DIY projects. I created placemats for kids to color at the rehearsal, made the card basket (plain brown basket purchased at goodwill), printed labels for the placecards  (cork coasters purchased online), designed labels for our wine bottle “guest book”, had FMIL crochet doilies for under the centerpieces, made tote bags for hotel guests…I think there is definitely more. Here’s a few photos.

Today I’ve been doing a mock up of our seating plan. I bought this mirror second hand for £2 and stuck flowers all the way around. We are then going to write the seating plan on it as shown in the last image

this is just my practice one, for the real one I will paint the mirror white so that no gold shows through, I will properly stick the flowers on with a hot glue gun and maybe fill it out a bit more

We are siting almost every aspect of our wedding but these will be our centerpieces! Half of the tables will have mismatched oil lamps and the other half will be mismatched teapots.

missjoy0819 :  We’re DIYing a bunch! The next few months are going to be crazy for us, here’s the list:

200+ paper flowers, 10 centerpieces, bridal bouquet, sewing the groom’s jacket and my wedding dress and foundation garment, ceremony decor too.

The flowers are so close to being done! Here’s a few pics:

So much DIY…but I have a ton of time so at least that is on my side!

– I am DIY’ing my invites, STD, programs…etc (all stationary)

– Making my own wooden signs for around the venue (welcome sign, etc)

– Making my own ceremony aisle decor (a bunch of mismatch height vases with candles inside)

– DIY our centerpieces for the reception tables

I’m sure there will be a lot more also!
