Any bee’s use NuvaRing?
I just went to see my doctor and she is changing my BC to NuvaRing.
I have PCOS and need to be on hormonal birth control for treatment. I have always experienced break-through bleeding (mid-cycle bleeding) and my doctor and I have been trying to fix using manipulations of the OCP and additional estrogen. Nothing has been working and so she thought we would try NuvaRing because the hormones bypass systemic circulation.
I am a little nervous about the change. I have been using OCP since I was 14 and so this is a big change for me!
Any bee’s on NuvaRing want to share their experiences?
Did you like it? Dislike it? Any side effects? Can your partner feel the ring during intercourse?

Nobody has ever used Nuvaring?

I used to use the Nuvaring, and I loved it. I had no negative side effects, my partner never felt it, and my skin improved. 🙂 The only down side for me was the price. My insurance doesn’t cover it, so when it got to $60/month, I switched to an IUD, which was covered.

I use it and love it. Get my period whenever i want (or not) but I am now starting to lose my sex drive after 3 years of being on it. NOt sure if that’s just due to stress or not…

I liked it, except that it seemed to make me prone to yeast infections! Then again, I have incredibly sensitive skin, so I shouldn’t be surprised. Otherwise, it was nice not to have to worry about birth control on a daily basis. My FI said he couldn’t feel it, and although it could be awkward to remove, it really wasn’t that bad. The pill sometimes makes me nauseous, which the NuvaRing never did. Good luck with it!

I used it for two years (just switched to the Mirena IUD). I loved it so much more than a pill – too much room for error with BC on the pill for me – and I rarely felt it. No negative side effects that I could tell. The FI could sometimes feel it but it was never an issue.
I did find the pill to be slightly more effective at inhibiting my cramps, but felt the slight increase in pain at that time of the month was worth the convenience and lack of worry about being pregnant that I would have had on the pill.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
You are making feel a little bit better about this change!

I was on it after a few years of mood swings and low (ha – more like NO) libido. it definitely helped and I loved not having to take a pill. I didn’t have any problems with yeast infections but I know it’s common with the ring. I only went off because I just wanted to stop using hormonal methods, not because of a bad experience.

I hate to be debbie downer here but a little back story I have pretty bad pmdd and I have also since been taken on BC completely because my body just doesn’t do well at all BUT the NuvaRing was the WORST of all the products I tried (and I’ve tried a TON). It made me very aggressive and more moody and emotional than most. Again I’m not a good candidate for BC pills in general so it could be that factor that played in this situation but my experience was not a good one.

I’m on it and I love it…I was on tricyclin and it made me crazy (literally), and then I was on alesse which was great, but I never took it properly. Nuvaring works amazing for me.
every body is different and will react differently. I have had no side effects at all other than generall cramping during that time which I didn’t get with the pill.

I was on the nuva ring for about 2 years. It was very convenient and easy to use, I was pretty steady mood-wise and didn’t gain any weight (though I have not had those side effects with an y BC I’ve tried). I loved not having to think about it every day.
My biggest issue was that my sex drive was GONE. Totally gone. I figured why be on BC if I never want to have sex? So, I switched back to the pill.

I was on the Nuva Ring for a year and really enjoyed not having to worry about a pill as well as skipping periods during convenient times. Through a combination of stress and the ring, I was one of the few people who gains weight and lost my labido on this BC. A friend of mine has been on this for 6 years now and loves it.

I was on NuvaRing for about 4 months. I was less than thrilled. Lots of other stuff was going on at the same time but I had a flurry of side effects, including depression, a huge increase in migraines, and I had two yeast infections in two months–the first two I’d had in 10 years! I was bummed because I’ve heard so many great things about it from other folks. Just goes to show that everyone’s different.

I used it and looooved it! BC tends to make me gain weight though (any kind) so my dr switched me a lower dose BC and off the ring to help me lose weight before the wedding

I loved it! I did not have to remember to take the pill, and I did not feel a thing. Though FI said he felt it sometimes. The only reason I don’t use it anymore is because I can’t afford it. Though now that I think about it there was some sex drive issues with me.
