Not sure if mine is ACTUALLY romantic or if I think it is just because it’s mine but I’m a blabber mouth so here I go:

I LOVE Christmas! So FH takes me to the harbor in the cold to watch a boat parade and taking pictures of Christmas lights. I love the area so he took me on the ferris wheel and when we were stopped at the top (it was the kind with the cute baskets not the big compartments) we were looking at Christmas lights and he was fumbling with his inside coat pocket )I thought he was getting his phone to take pics) and I saw him pull it out and I didn’t know what to do and couldn’t say anything intelligent so I ugly cried & said yes.

I asked him if he ever got nervous when I told people that we weren’t getting married for a long time and he said No, he always knew that he would marry me.

My name is Heather, which is a flower found primarily in Scotland – and it is really EVERYWHERE in Scotland. FI was born and raised in Scotland and when he told his mom that we were dating, her response was that I was The One since my name was Heather.

This  past August, we took a long weekend to NYC. He was driving and was going way farther uptown than where the hotel was. He said that we’ve had a change of plan. So we go really really far uptown and end up driving through some park – Fort Tyron park I found out later. I still thought he’d just changed hotels on me 🙂 I see a sign for a heather garden and I mention it but was still clueless. So he parks, gets me and the dog out of the car, and takes my hand (this is where I started to get clued in as he’s not a big hand holder).

We wandered around the heather garden, right on the Hudson River. He found a private nook with a little bench, got down on one knee, said some beautiful things I can’t fully remember, and proposed!!!

I got engaged in June, but was given my ring wrapped in Christmas paper in a  large box. Does that count? :). More funny, I think!
