Hi, My parents hosted mine, it was a backyard party. There were probably 50-60 people. They rented a tent and tables/linens, there were 4 tables underneath and had some other seating around the yard. They had it catered, buffet style and hired a bartender. We just did music by ipod, my dad gave a quick speech/toast. It was low key, but still a little nicer than just any old party they would host. It was a great time. I especially liked it because I don't live in my homestate anymore so a lot of my friends stayed at the house until 3am just hanging out and it was really nice to see everyone
We're doing a daytime BBQ at one of my friends' townhome clubhouse. We're only inviting the bridal party and some family, so there will be about 20 people there. We'll havev cajun food (FH is from New Orleans) and play a game or two. Very laid back, and hopefully fun, day! Happy planning!
I am planning mine now too! So Ecciting :) We are having our on a Saturday night, it is going to be a formal cocktail event. We will have finger food going around and an open bar. We are having family and close friends.. ended up being 100-130 people. I have booked my photographer and now I just need to find someone to do my cake and I am not sure what else I need to organise. I have made my own invites and now FI and I need to go down to the department stores and create some kind of registry.
Happy Planning!
We did an in-home cocktail party with an open-bar/bartender and passed apps, which everyone loved! By mailing the invites and having a bartender and servers passing the apps it seemed super-nice but still had a low-key, in-home feel. It was really fun and a great taste of what was to come!
My MIL hosted an informal sunday brunch at her apartment.
We had a small gathering of people who were local (plus BMs/GMs if they could make it).
We had breakfast food (bagels, lox, quiche, cheese grits, sausage, etc) and drinks (bloody marys, mimosas, and coffee/tea).
It was great, low key, and really enjoyable.
We did it on the day before Valentine's day (which happened to be our 7 year dating anniversary).
Ours is tomorrow night!! :D
We have hired out the upstairs of a local bar and we're having about 100-120 people. We're having canapes and cupcakes, it's going to be great! Plus lots of drinking and dancing :)
We planned our ourself (as is common here) and we're making it big because we're having a small wedding.
Dinner with just our bridal party at our favorite Mexican restaurant with game night afterwards. It was very low key and relaxed and we loved it!
We had a BBQ during the summer time with good food and drinks. It was a ton of fun.
Mine has not yet happened, but my FSIL is throwing it at my house (they just sold their house and will be mid-move) for our families and very close friends (Approx 40 people).
She is sending formal invites, but I'm not sure what the food/set-up will be like. Considering it is at my house now, I should probably figure that out. lol
