I'm torn between having chocolate or vanilla cake.  I will definitely be having chocolate frosting and a raspberry jam filling.  If it were me, I would choose to have chocolate cake, but I'm concerned that may be too much chocolate for most people.  What would you prefer?

while i LOVE chocolate - i think i agree it'd be too much chocolate and having the white cake will offset everything else. :)

I would go with the chocolate one, but I didn't vote because I am not a fan of jam in cakes.

I don't like chocolate cake, so I voted vanilla, but most of my family would love the chocolate-chocolate combo.

I voted for vanilla cake just because I like vanilla better than chocolate cake. But if I had a slice of that, I wouldn't eat the raspberry filling. I hate fruit or gooey fillings :-P

I voted vanilla. I'm not a fan of too much chocolate so I think the vanilla cake would help balance the chocolate frosting.

Also, you are having a summer wedding and chocolate on chocolate seems too heavy a cake for June.

Looks like a tie!  Can your baker do different flavors on different tiers?

They can do different cake flavors on different tiers, but they want to charge us an additional dollar per person to do that (about $120).  In the whole scheme of things, that's not a ton of money, but I hate being nickeled and dimed for every little thing.  Do you think I should just suck it up and pay extra to have both chocolate and vanilla cake?

Part of me wants to say screw it and get all chocolate cake because it's what I want!  Most weddings I've been to have only had vanilla cake and/or vanilla frosting, which I don't like...and no chocolate option for the chocolate lovers like me!!

I'm really picky about raspberry filling.  Its kinda hit or miss for me.  But I'm not one to pass up cake, and I would most likely end up eating the whole thing with no complaints.  Anyway!  I know that chocolate best compliments raspberry, but I think yellow cake might have more mass appeal.  My vote is chocolate cake and chocolate frosting.  But I think either way it will be yummy.

Well if they're charging you to split the flavors between tiers, I'd choose one flavor to go with.  I agree it's not a lot of extra money, but it's a silly added on cost!  Pick the one YOU like the most, either one is likely to appeal to most people!

yum to both. no matter what you pick, it'll be delicious. i voted chocolate, but would like to add that people who love chocolate will eat vanilla but people who love vanilla won't always eat chocolate.

I would do chocolate, but I am a chocoholic.  Sorry that doesn't help your poll much, since it's pretty evenly split!

    Chocolate cake with raspberry jam.

If you are having white cake, then have white icing. Be aware that not everyone likes chocolate or can eat it.
