A few months ago, my SO and I went ring shopping, I tried on a few gorgeous rings.
But the store was SO HOT! My hands were swelling so I measured at an “O” which is 7 is US. I was surprised when the assistant told us that, because I have a ring on my LH middle finger which is an N (6.5) and that is too big for my ring finger normally!
The problem is that my SO now thinks my finger is an O, so if he buys me a ring which cannot be resized, we’ll both be upset.
So how do I tell him that I’m not an O, but probably an M (hehe, for marriage)?

I explained to my FI that my fingers change size depending on the tempurature (which is true).
BUT he bought me a ring that was a 6.5. Turns out I am a small 5 (really, a 4.75)!! So the ring was GIGANTIC when he proposed.
Better to have a ring that’s too big than too small – you can always resize it.

The only thing that can’t be resized are alternative metals- and they pretty much only use them in men’s wedding bands. The measured me and said I was a 7, and when my fiance proposed with the ring in that size it was so loose and falling off my finger. I had to get it resized to a 6.25. It was no problem at all.

My ring was probably a 6.5 or a 7 when SO proposed and my finger was sized at 5.5, definitely a little big! I could probably be a 5 or 5.25 if my stupid knuckle wasnt so big.
Just tell him to make sure to ask if it can be resized, tell him that you know that your fingers might change after pregnancies etc and you want to be able to wear your ring forever.

Just tell him. He’ll be glad!

Get a ring guard in…tell him you wanted to order a ring online for x finger on your right hand or something….joke with him and say let me see how big your fingers are and use it on him. Then do all of yours and go wow, this was a 7 before and now it’s this, must’ve been because the store was so hot. They’re $10 on etsy in the rare earth store I believe.

@RhianfaHW: I’d just tell him. Easy

@orchidblooms: That’s actually what I did! You worded it better than I did though haha. “Oh look at that, my ring finger is a size 7!”

Thank you everyone.
I just told him, in a jokey way so that it wasn’t so pushy. He agreed it was a gazzilion degrees in the shop and that I’m probably right with my sizing.

@RhianfaHW: Glad that this worked out easily! Looking forward to ring pics when the time comes!
