Aww no pics???  🙂

FI left a note on the kitchen counter with coordinates and a time.  Said I had to be there then, don’t be late.  Dumb me spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to interpret the coordinates into an address… finally figured it out, got in the car, and ended up at Stone Mountain Park (state park with giant granite sticking out of the ground you can climb or ride to the top).  I had to take a cable car up to the top, where FI was waiting.  We walked for a bit, then he got down on one knee.  It was a beautiful day with the Atlanta skyline in the background.

@jessicaandjames5914: Because you got engaged on Bermuda I’ll have to share our story as we did the same!

We went there last year for Easter, a five day trip away from the awful gloomy Toronto weather. I feel in love with Bermuda from the second we left the airport and the entire trip felt nothing less than magical. Two days before we were scheduled to go home, we decided to take a long Sunday hike along the old abandoned railway track. We first headed to Fairmont for brunch, a 10km hike, climbed the old light house close by and eventually ended up on a small beach. There was no one there and we skipped between tidal pools looking at the little fishes caught in them. Then I spotted a shell I wanted and asked FI if he could get it for me (I’m not good with cold water).

He said yes, put down his backpack, took of his shoes, rolled up his pants and managed to sneak out the ring without me seeing it. He then stepped into the pool with his back towards me and got the shell, then he turned around and said “Honey, it looks a little different out of the water”. Then he fell down to one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the most perfect day I’ve ever experienced and I still get all goofy happy when looking at my ring or the shell! 🙂

And 5 minutes after he had proposed a family with three naked little kids came crashing into our pool. The mum said “I hope we didn’t interrupt anything romantic” and I said “No, no… he proposed a good 5 minutes ago!”. They all shrieked and then asked us if they could take a photo of us. So happy for that!

The proposal date itself was not a surprise but the execution was a fabulous surprise.  We had been talking about getting engaged for more than a few months.  J was having the ring designed by his friend’s father.  A few unforeseen circumstances prevented the ring from being ready at an earlier date.  Finally  J found out the estimated shipment of the ring.  He told me the proposal wouldn’t be on Valentine’s Day but it would be close.  When the proposal didn’t come the weekend before Valentine’s Day, I knew it was coming after.

The past few weeks I had been telling J my day to day plans so he wouldn’t have to ask me.  I woke up the morning of the proposal with plans to go to the gym.  However, I didn’t feel in the mood to go, but knew I had to since I didn’t know what his plan was.  After a quick workout, I came home to find an envelope taped to my door with Clue #1 written on it.  I knew immediately that this was IT.  I opened the envelope and there was a poem that would lead me to my next clue.  Luckily a note was attached that told me not to leave before a certain time; I had plenty of time to shower and get ready.

The next few poems led me to other significant places in our relationship throughout the city.  The final poem led me to the sculpture garden at the museum where we had our first date.  J was waiting inside the “tree house” sculpture to propose.  It was the most awesome proposal I could have asked for.  We continued our celebration by having lunch where we also continued our first date.

My avatar pic is the propsal. He had a friend off to the side ready to take pictures.  The proposal was private but we recreated it for the friend a few minutes after to take them.

My new hubby is a huge L.A. Kings fan. Last year when they won the Stanley Cup, we went to their victory parade in downtown Los Angeles. After the last float passed by, he turned to me and said, “There’s only one thing that would make this better”, then he got down on one knee and proposed. A camera crew saw what was happening, and we made the news:
