Ok, I need some advice/opinions on telling our families. I will be 12 wks along the weekend of Easter and plan to tell them then (parents, siblings, grandparents).
Darling Husband and I have thrown around several ideas for breaking the news (we will have 3 stops to make that day/weekend). What have you done or think would be cute?
-A shirt of some kind that we would both wear. Possible ideas: printing with picture of ultrasound, saying “mom” and “dad”, coming October 2013, etc..
-A cookie cake that say’s “We’re having a baby” or “Baby XXXX Coming October 2013”. Thought briefly about having the US pic printed on a cake and decided that would be really weird when you actually go to eat it.
Open to any other suggestions?? We would like to do something creative rather than just saying hey guess what…

We are doing the same thing for my side of the family! I was thinking of buying one of these cute shirts:
But I definitely won’t have a belly yet so I’m not sure if one of those would work…

@mrsjroo: ahhh soooo cute! I love them! I may consider these, although Darling Husband wants to be involved as well, so would have to figure out something for him. I doubt I’m showing by then either…
Thanks for the link!

Easter eggs or an easter egg hunt?
We have little ones that are great family friends. Last year, we shared with that family on Easter that we were expecting (my parents already knew). We hid among the regular eggs ones that had paper inside spelling out “XXXX and XXXX are having a baby!” The kids found all the words and put them in order, then went and told their parents.
We told my parents the week before because we got over-excited, but we told them with a themed Easter basket–baby everything. It was fun to shop for and they figured it out pretty quickly (once we told them it had a theme).

This isn’t that creative but if this is your first child you could get like grandma, great grandma, grandpa, great-aunt cards for easter for family members. That’s how we told my Mother-In-Law with a grandma V-day card and signed it from her soon to be grandbaby and said PS: see you in September.
It’s not that creative I know but it would easily get the point across.

I’m in the same boat. Plan on annouceing to parents on the 24th and then relatives on Easter. NO idea how were going to do it yet! My Darling Husband just told me yesterday he wants to wait till the 24th because its his birthday and the perfect excuse to have both sets of over.
Maybe a big cake with a baby carriage on it for easter? Gesgh, I need ideas too!

I am so far away from having children, but the idea I love (I think I got it from another bee?) is to have your Darling Husband take a photo of everyone and while he’s getting ready to snap the picture he says: Ok, everyone say “Mrs. Coyote’s pregnant!!”

@Luckygir15: They have little plastic babies that you can cook into cakes sold with Mardi Gras stuff – normally baked into a king cake (yes, it’s pretty creepy in reality). You could bake a birthday cake and load the batter with the plastic babies and tell people to watch their slice for a surprise.

Good luck with your announcement!
What I did for my mother in law was buy her a book called “The Grandparents’ Handbook” and had the US pic sticking out. It is her first grandchild and she went absolutely nuts 🙂 said it was the best gift ever (we gave it to her on her birthday).
Perhaps you could give them Easter eggs that say Grandma and Grandpa on them, or have little plastic babies/baby bottles, etc inside Easter eggs?

Thanks for all of the suggestions! You all gave me some wonderful ideas to consider and I’m sure we will do something or a combination of the ideas you gave!
To others also looking for cute Easter ideas, I saw a thing on pinterest about putting a message inside a real cooked and decorated egg, in a box that says crack me. Message would say baby xxxx hatching October 2013.
Since we have multiple houses to go to, I may just use a different idea for each house!

@canadablue: My phone wouldn’t pull up your link, I just looked at it and realized it is exactly like what I saw on Pinterest! Love it!
