Tantrums are an inevitable part of childhood behavior before children learn to better handle their emotions.
When did your kids grow out of temper tantrums?
And how old is too old for the crying and screaming in your opinion?

I voted 4 is the age they should be done with temper tantrums. Because at 5 they are going to school and need to hold it together. My 2 year old is having some temper tantrums lately and I think its just normal at this stage.

@freshflowers: I say age 4 as well. By age 3 they can talk and should be able to vocalize their emotions.

Ahhh….17…seriously, sometimes my 17 year old will melt down and be a total jerk about stupid stuff. I now know why some animals eat their young in the wild.

@LuvMySailor: Vocalizing and melting down is not necessarily related. They just scream words while they meltdown! haha

@freshflowers: I was thinking of tihse tantrums that come when the child is overwhelmed and can’t express themselves. For my child those kind stoped when she learned to talk and I was say “use your words or go to time out and cool off”.
Now, those tantrums that come because kiddo is made Mommy said “no”? Those stopped to when she neared 4. I don’t tolerate bad behavior whatsoever, especially in public. She got 2 warnings and after that a pop to her behind.
