I decided if this cycle didn’t end in a pregnancy (it didn’t) that I would start temping. I just had the following convo with my husband…
Me: I need to go to Target tonight.
DH: What do you need?
Me: I need a thermometer.
DH: We have one.
Me: I need a special one. A BBT.
DH: Oh, I know what that is for!
Me: What? (Surpised)
DH: You take your temperature and you find the dip (all while making cute little hand gestures on an “air” chart).
Me: How do you know that?
DH: You told me.
DH: The only question I have is where do you put it?
I laughed at him, but the funny thing is I googled this yesterday because I wasn’t quite sure… Do people actually take vaginal temperatures or do most people just use an oral reading? I’ve done a lot of reading on TTC, but is there anything you recommend when it comes to temping? I am working on getting my hands on a copy of TCOYF. Thanks!

I think most of us take temps orally, but there are a few who do it vaginally. Join us over on the charters threads, and good luck!

@MrsBG: Orally is fine. I heard doing it vaginally is more accurate and doesn’t fluctutate as much. Personally, I check mine orally and see no problem with that plus it’s more comfortable. The tricky part is to do it at the same time in the morning before you wake up. Feel free to join us at the Charters thread.

@MrsBG: I think it’s very nice of your DH to remember this. I have explained to DH this over and over. I think he gets the idea.

That is totally adorable! And I temp’d orally.

@MrsBG: Awww, too cute! Hahaha! I temped orally, but I think for people who are mouth breathers it would be more accurate to temp up the hoo-hah. I mean, a lot of people poke it to check CM anyway, right?

I temp orally too and works for me. That is cute though that your DH remembered though! Join us on charters too 🙂

I temp vaginally. I tried orally for a couple cycles but my chart was all over the place, it literally looked like a mountain range 🙁 I think it’s because I might sleep with my mouth open, but I’m not sure. Temping vaginally has Definitely given me clearer and easier to interpret charts though so I think it’s worth it. I bought a special thermometer just for this use and keep a pack of wipes near the bed to keep it clean. Good luck charting, it definitely helps!
