It took me a few months to get into temping, so I understand your frustrations.  After I got into it I enjoyed being able to see what my body was doing everyday.  If you are a mouth breather your temps aren’t as reliable.  I don’t know much about vaginal temping, but i know that other ladies on the Charter’s boards do.

Weddingobsessed:  I was also a mouth breather and my temps were a over the place. I used the same thermometer and started taking my temp vaginally and my chart looked much better. My ovulation pains were very obvious…but your description sounded very positive!

I used to have the same problem with my waking time. I suggest setting your alarm much earlier, to make sure you catch yourself when you’re in really deep sleep. For you, that might be 5am. Just roll over, take your temperature, then go back to sleep.

Weddingobsessed:  I agree with jammer62. I set my alarm for 4am every day. Then I temp and go back to sleep when my normal alarm goes off (anywhere between 520-7am, depending on the day).

I’ve been charting for around a year now, and it definitely gets easier. You also can’t microfocus on each day – its a trend that you see over time. Plus, its not always 100% clear/obvious. My DH and I are TTA so we just take extra precautions on the “unclear” days, but you can always throw in some extra BD if you are TTC 🙂

Set your alarm for earlier than your earliest wake time and do it then. You can go ahead and temp vaginally starting with your next cycle to avoid any variability that may be related to breathing through your mouth. And, for the sake of your sanity, you need to rerlax. Stress only screws with you more. Figure out what you can do to relax and do it. Temping is not worth stressing over.
