…because they’ve gone on clearance! I already did this with one small item (a bathmat) but now one an All Clad covered saute pan we’ve registered for has gone on clearance for $69.99 (from $99.99) and I have a 20% online coupon that will bring it down to $55.99.
There’s also a strawberry huller on our registry I’ve been eyeing that’s on clearance for $3.49 from $6.99. Seems like a weird thing, but I’ve wanted one for a while now.
I feel like I should just buy them, or they might not be around any longer. But, the point of the registry is to give other people ideas for your wedding, not to buy yourself shit. Especially when saving for your wedding.

@DomesticDiva: The bathroom stuff I really wanted has been mostly discontinued and I can’t find any other sets I like so I’ve been strongly considering buying it

@DomesticDiva: We needed new glasses, and since we had registerd for some, I just bought them off our registry. I think say go for it!

@DomesticDiva: I’ve nearly bought stuff off our registries too just because we needed it. If you’ve got a little bit of wiggle room in the budget for a couple clearance items then I say go for it.

If you have the money for it, then go for it. Just show on the registry that it was purchased – they dont have to know it was by you 😉

For a good deal like that I don’t think I could pass it up! I would go for it, I wouldn’t want to risk missing out on getting something that could be on clearance then gone for good either.

@DomesticDiva: YES! There were a pair of champagne glasses that were being discontinued and I REALLY wanted those for our wedding reception. I snatched those up STAT.

@luluvohn: Same here–there was a notification on our registry when we set it up that the item was going to be discontinued soon. They were pasta/wide soup bowls and one of the items I really wanted! So I bought them all with my coupon for opening up a Macy’s card. Like @SupermansSweetheart: said, no one has to know it was me! There are plenty other ideas for people… I just didn’t want to miss out on these.

If you really want them and they’re on clearance then I would buy them because they probably won’t be around much longer (unless they introduce something new in its place). It will just show up as purchased on your registry. They can buy you something else from your registry instead.

@whitemochi622: Yeah, we registed for two bathroom sets. One nice beige Kenneth Cole set for him and one fun Kate Spade one for me. All of a sudden the Kate Spade one is only available in stores, but only one store withing 25 miles of us (23.6, of course) has it, none near FI’s family, and none near the majority of our guests. So I asked FI if he wanted to take a road trip to buy stuff off our registry this weekend! lol

On Clearance? Go ahead and get it…gives you space on the registry to add something else instead.

OK, you guys have me convinced. 😉 Glad to hear that many of you have experienced or are experiencing the same thing.
It’s not really a matter of money, it’s a matter of guilt of buying the stuff. Why is there guilt associated with it? I don’t know, I’m just a worrier.
So, I’m up to $59…gotta spend $40 more to get free shipping. Guess some more things will need to hop into the cart. 😉

I bought a couple things off my registry. They were on super sale for black friday so I got a great discount. Definitely go for it!
