Just for clarification, we’re hoping to do the wedding on Cape Cod in MA.
OK so this may be dumb, but I’m a little confused about renting a tent…. where are you allowed to put them? Do you have to rent, say, a B&B and put it on their grounds? Or can you get a permit with the town for a beach/woods/open space?
How does this work?! So clueless.
And please feel free to share your tent experiences/thoughts/opinions!

I think this would be totally dependent on the place. Two venues we looked at had tented receptions, one provided the tent, the other did not. You’d have to check with your local laws regarding parks and beaches and such.

Call the county risk management deparment for the location you are looking at. They will have all the insurance information you’ll need too (well they should).

@memleyxx: I think many tented ceremonies actually take place on the personal property of family members or friends. Some venues permit tents as well. Because tent stakes must be driven into the concrete or ground, some venues have specific regulations regarding where and how tents can be placed.

Different towns have different zoning rules. Call town hall to clarify.
