So our reception is going to be in a frame tent that looks something like this:
I always feel like frame tents are so stark with the exposed framing and everything – but at least our tent will have chandeliers kinda like that. Anyway… I’m thinking about maybe getting some uplighting or ceiling drapes to warm up the tent a bit – make it a bit cozier and more conducive for dancing. But I’m not sure if I’ll have funds for both… so which do you think would have the greatest impact for setting the mood in the tent? uplighting or ceiling drapes?

Lighting for sure over draping. The draping may close the space off making it feel smaller. But lighting will add the mood without taking up the room. Hope that helps!

I added a poll if that helps.

I’m really curious to hear what others have to say, as I have the same question. My reception is in a tent, and I’m debating whether to drape fabric or use some blue and purple uplighting.

Draping will run you a pretty penny. You could probably get the wow factor by uplighting for much less money.

I prefer uplighting. We had a tented wedding and draping was an option but it was expensive and it reminds me of draped tulle for some reason- a look I don’t care for.

I think lighting is much more effective and cheaper.
