would you want a mini terrarium (in a 3" apothecary jar) as a favor/placeholder?

i was thinking of making them in the jars a few weeks before, having cute labels/stickers with each guests name on them and tiny care instructions on the back.

would you want to receive something like this or would it ust be another annoying, useless gift?

     i would love honest opinions!

I thought of making terrariums as centerpieces, and then offering them to my "helpers" as thank you gifts after the wedding.

I love this idea.  Take pictures and share them after you're done! Good luck!

be careful if your guests are flying/travelling - even in a car this favor may be problematic, because keeping something like that upright can be a pain. i had the same thought about potted herbs, but decided against it so that they didn't get wasted. sound like a real cute idea, though...

it sounds like it'd be a really cute favor but depending on the guests, it could be a bust. someone above mentioned traveling guests -- definitely something to keep in mind! also those who don't have any interest in plants might just dump your favor from the getgo. a good compromise might be to do a series of terrarium centerpieces and add a note that anyone interested in taking one home can do so! maybe do a smaller plant favor that would be more guest-friendly...perhaps handwritten escort cards on wildflower seed paper?
