My Fiance just suggested that we either go to beautiful Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta. OF course it just happens that im all the way in seattle and its all the way down in the coast area of california and the other in the middle of mexico. Im terrified of flying…. should I just suck it up (take a sleeping pill lol) and get on a flight.

What exactly are you scared of in terms of flying? Have you ever flown before?
My mom is scared of flying and she takes Xanax to fly. I don’t love flying, but I’m not terrified, so I basically just have a few drinks!

Friend of mine had the exact same issue – terrified of flying, but had decided on a trip to Italy for her honeymoon. She spoke with her doctor about her fear and he prescribed something like Xanax (I can’t remember). But she was the type that would literally start to shake, hands sweating and all, when just thinking about flying!
Perhaps you can speak to your MD and see what they could recommend/prescribe?

I know that phobias are emotional and not rational, but it’s important to remember that flying is way, way, way safer than driving. The chances of anything happening are miniscule. It might help you to look up the physics of turbulence – I know when my dad taught me how to fly and I understood it better, turbulence never bothered me again!

@rbuchanan09: I agree with PP…maybe try to get prescribed something. Also, make sure you know all the “new” security rules before heading to the airport. The most anxiety I have about flying is all the security nonsense!
