Hey there! I'm in Austin and kind of in a similar situation. We're planning a much smaller wedding (only about 15-20 guests) but we were overwhelmed with the prices of a lot of the venues. We ended up deciding to have both the ceremony and reception in my FI's mom's backyard, which is beautifully landscaped. Now we get to save on not only the price of the venue, but on decorations, corkage fees, etc. A few of our friends even offered for us to use their yards, before we decided on FMIL's, so I bet if you mention to your friends and family that you'd like to have a backyard wedding, you will probably get some offers too. I'm in the Houston area.. There are tons of information on the web to get you started on. msg me and I can give you some estimates on different vendors based on our experience. Have you considered an out of town wedding?

Last few months, i've attended this beautiful wedding in a beautiful reception area with a very nice little back yard. However, the price of the place was a little bit too much for our budget. I really dont think our wedding will have anymore than 130 people...so if you live in texas, please give me some ideas.
I reside in the houston area...in the Katy area. Any help is much appreciated!!! I'm just started planning this wedding and I have no idea what to do...any advice on flowers, reception, gifts would be helpful too! I thought about having a wedding planner but then again, im not sure how much that would cost and I really think I can do this...right?
