I think monsoon season is just too unpredictable. You could always stay with the tried and true Mexico or Hawaii, and save Thailand for a gret trip when the weather is good. Airfare to Mexico should be more affordable too.
I just came back from my honeymoon in Thailand and it was the BEST time ever. Although it could rain for 30 minutes straight, it did one time, the rest of the time was sunny and spectacular.
Instead of going to the west of the peninsula - Krabi/Phuket - you can go to the east part which is Koh Samui.

Good luck! I hope you make it to that side of the world. It's worth it.
I lived in Thailand for 4 years and during monsoon season it mostly rained very hard for 30 minutes or so and then cleared up. I would still consider going to Thailand. I have no doubt that you will have a good time. If you want beautiful beaches I would consider Phuket, southern peninsula area.
If you want a beautiful beach that is closer to Bangkok, I would consider Hua Hin. The sofitel hotel in Hua Hin is absolutely grogeous, historical hotel http://www.sofitel.com/gb/hotel-0891-sofitel-centara-grand-resort-and-villas/index.shtml
I also want to mention to stay away from Pattaya. The town is very busy, built up and full of the type of night life that attracts single male tourists, not honeymooners!

My fiancee and I were planning to go to Southern Thailand (the beaches) for our honeymoon from the end of May - mid June but we've been hearing mixed things about the weather. It is monsoon season, and some have told us it pours for 30 minutes a day and the rest of the day is gorgeous sunshine and others are telling us it could rain for 3 days straight. Any advice?!?!? If not Thailand, any recommendations for GORGEOUS beaches, great food, great spas, but is not that expensive once you are there??
