I am happy that you guys are having the wedding you want. Its all about the bride and groom!
I'm a fan! How can you regret a beautiful simple marriage that focuses on what really matters with no drama and has a KICK ASS honey moon!?
Rock on!
Thats so awesome! I feel like the reason I am putting off booking our venue and photographer, is so that we can come to this brilliant conclusion ourselves :) I guess we'll see!!
Congratulations!
I'll admit, at times we wish we'd done something similar. We wanted to do a teeny less than 20 person wedding and scratched it when people were like, "But what about so-and-so?" I love how our wedding is coming along but a tiny piece of me envies you! So enjoy yourself! :)
@JuniperSage: someone else in the same boat as me. So happy for you guys hope it turns out well. l too am looking again saphire ring. It repels negative energy so it's a win win. I too am holdin ofd telling the future mother in law. My mum questioned it all but she'll be worse. At least you'll being the new chapter of your lives exactly as you want ithappy :)
@Juniper Sage... we have the same plan :) I lived in Cabo San Lucas as a child and it is my dream to honeymoon there after my elopement! GOOD CHOICE! I am very happy for you and your FI for choosing to do what makes you both happy!!
@JuniperSage: I LOVE IT! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant handle stress AT ALL. so the idea of a huge event is not ME.

We've been engaged (only!) since Christmas Eve and already, I've experienced a crazy amount of wedding related dramz! Honestly, I thought I could handle this. I expected it. Everyone always says weddings bring out the worst in people... yada yada yada.
It started with the wedding date. We couldn't seem to please anyone (the people we wanted most at the wedding ... his immediated family, mine, and our bridal party) and ended up scratching 2 summer months completely off the list of possible dates. We ended up with a sunday date only 6 months away (instead of the 7 or 8 months I was hoping for).
Then came the power struggle with his mom. 'Nuff said. I tried setting boundries, but with each new topic, she'd do something new. FI was standing up to her but then she was doing the same to him.
Stuff hit the fan when it came to wedding dress shopping & she invited someone I had never met before... and I told her we could reschedule, it wasn't a big deal.
It might not seem like a lot, but everything we thought we had planned just fell apart... mostly because of his mom. And partly because of our finacnces. We were silly and just assumed that our families would want to help out a little and our $8k budget in 6 months kinda started to scare us when we realized it would be all us. We knocked it down to $6k but still... with wanting to honeymoon (very important to us) and buy a house in the fall... we were stressing.
So I mentioned the unmentionable .... seriously. I brought up eloping. I set the scene for FI:
Me in a short white dress, birdcage veil and bouquet. You in your grey three-piece suit. Just us, together at the courthouse downtown ... and a witness/photographer in tow. Portraits after and then the two of us would enjoy a nice romantic dinner before heading to our hotel room. We'd fly out the next day (true honeymoon fashion!) to Cabo San Lucas (affordable and our favorite easy vacation destination) for a week.
FI was sold. We were both so relieved and so happy! I called my mom and she couldn't be happier. We are waiting to tell his mom AFTER we book the trip to Mexico because OH MY I just KNOW she's going to try and talk us out of it. *sigh*
We kind of did the same thing with my e-ring .... thinking diamond solitaire, then realized we couldn't get much for our budget. We knew that the ring didn't matter but still ... wanted something we were both happy with. Then I stumbled upon my sapphire e-ring online and the price SO PERFECT and the ring SO. ME. We both knew it was the one. This elopement is sort of the same.
You guys! I don't have to worry about invitiations, registering, caterers, or any of that! I get to skip straight to the good stuff ;) I am over the moon right now!
