I also got a few cards with checks in them and I sent them a thank you within three weeks of that. I had to send them out for the bridal shower, so I sent those out with them. They were all very appreciative since I also sent in a wallet size photo from our engagement session.
You should send the thank you card as soon as you receive the gift.
I would send them immediately. You are less likely to forget to thank them then and they will know that you received the gift.
We're sending informal thank you notes when we get a gift but they'll get a formal thank you with a picture of us from the wedding afterwards.
shoot, i better get on that then. i received some like 2 weeks ago! i didn't plan on that happening at all, i didn't even buy wedding thank you cards yet thinking that it was something you just do post-wedding.
@BrianneG - that is a really good idea! maybe i will go ahead and do that because i don't even know what design of thank you cards i want for the wedding yet
